Three accidents on the M74 within 24 hours, 2 of them fatal, don’t know about the latest!!
According to traffic scotland, the m74 is closed due to flooding at junction 10
Flooding? I came up past there at half 4 and there was nothing. How heavy has it been raining?
We had several hours of torrential rain in Ayrshire.
This is the latest incident at lesmahagow. Doesn’t look good.

4 fatalities on the 74 in 2 days now
That fatal truck one looks like it’s next to a bridge but surely theres a barrier right down the side before that especially with such a long drop? Unless its hit that with such force that it ploughed through.
No doubt will all come out eventually and any prosecutions make it into a tiny column in the corner of a paper if at all.
Hope he / she didn’t know what happened.

.
Drive that stretch regularly. In fact had to divert through Ecclefechan on the way back. They’d only just finished doing some work on the motorway the previous week and that bit has had a fair bit done to it.
Ive just passed another one northbound just after Lockerbie J17. Down to one lane.
Police and ambulance there just now. Looks bad. Merc with front end mangled
The M74 south section just past Beattock is the only place where I have ever had a lorry aquaplane! Many times I’ve driven it in the wet and noticed just how polished and slick the road surface appears to be. No surprise that many cars end up in difficulty there.
HGV incident was at Lesmahagow. Close to old A74

Armco etc (dunno if thats what is here) will allow a vehicle striking it at a glancing angle to bounce off. Heavier vehicles and those hitting it more directly will not be stopped. If a truck swerves to avoid an obstruction, for instance, it
ll hardly be slowed as it goes over it, because itll be a direct hit. If a vehicle gets past the barrier it risks having much wiring and brake pipes ripped off, and maybe steering gear. The dropped air will hopefully put all brakes on full, but it
s now mostly past any useful driver input. Possibly tyres blown out by posts. Awful.
I suspect by the time you’ve ripped the brake lines and dropped the air, you’re already gone way too far off the road for the trailer wheels to stop you.
Trees unfortunately are a little more effective and horrible. Really not sure they are such a good idea, whatever the Green party claims.
