M69 artic crash

I was on the M69 at 6.20am yesterday (thursday) morning and in the distance I could see two sets of flashing blue lights. When I got nearer I could see they were on the other carriageway then through the darkness realised that an artic had crashed and was sitting on top of the central reservation.

Did anybody else see it? I think they later closed alot of the carriageway. I don`t think any other vehicles were involved but I tried not to look as I passed as traffic was already rubber necking in front of me

The matrix signs were flashing up for that yesterday on the M5 around the bristol area!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Commuters faced huge delays yesterday morning when a lorry jack-knifed on a motorway.

The incident happened at 5.50am on the M69 close to Burbage.

A heavy goods vehicle, which was travelling south, crashed through the motorway’s central reservation and into the opposite carriageway.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the scene, but the driver of the truck was not injured.

The crash left the northbound carriageway covered in diesel and the road had to be shut for a time so it could be cleared — causing long traffic delays for motorists travelling in both directions.

Highways Agency spokesman Tim Roberts said: "The HGV jack-knifed and hit the barrier in the central reservation.

"Some 100 litres of diesel was then spilled on to the northbound carriageway, which had to be washed away or gritted over.

"The lorry caused significant damage to the barrier and we had to send teams in to replace 30 sections of it which are 10 metres long each.

“That was a sizeable job and required one lane to be closed in each direction.”

Mr Roberts said there had been considerable congestion and delays during the morning rush-hour, but that traffic was again flowing normally by lunch time.

He added: “We were working very hard to try to get the repair work done before the afternoon peak in traffic.”
