M62 today December 3

What’s the score with the M62 anyone ?
Going to Leeds from Ellesmere Port, it sounds bad from radio reports.

Just seen on the news… what a mess.

I would avoid it as much as you can… looks like it will be a big clear up operation

Bugger.
Cheers for that, time to get the map out.

the A1 north is caos up to the A64 if you were thinking of going that way… :frowning:

Bedfords trailer involved…there are a few people on here who work for them.

Made a phone call after hearing about it, and my source tells me it was a Bedfords driver in a hire motor.

Nobody seriously hurt apparently, which is a good thing.

Ken.

+1

Rear Axle came off the truck apparently and obviously it’s unavoidable. Junction 31 Westbound had been closed all day.

Dumb ■■■ question,
If true how does a rear axle “come off” Not picked up on regular inspection or a possibly a good Walk round?

Ever that or hitting a fooookin massivvvve pothole :open_mouth:

That’s what people were saying however I couldn’t confirm if that was the cause of the accident.

I think not

one of the garage lads at Bedfords is a mate of mine. details are still sketchy as its still under police investigation but apparently it was the “rear axle” or bogey from an old S-reg furniture wagon that was in front of him that became detached and he swerved to avoid it. the “bogey” was found 200 yards further down the road. may be referring to an empty drag perhaps, dunno. no one was injured but the cab is toast, ripped it off its mountings. :open_mouth:

There will be nothing wrong with the bedfords trailer, their garage lads are all ■■■■ hot and well on top of the game. The trailer always have a through servicing and inspection.

When I passed going west there was what looked like a 20ft drag trailer loose on the carriageway

mystery solved then I think! drag came detached for whatever reason, but youd have thought the bedfords trailer wouldve gone over if he swerved that hard (it was loaded with flat pack furniture).
