After I had finished on here last night,I decided to have a few minutes listening to the West Yorkshire plod on my scanner, when there was frantic activity around the M62 west/ M606/Hartshead Moor area due to an accident.
Apparently, someone had broken down in their car in lane 1,a Fiat, and had attempted to push it off the carriageway, when a truck,of unknown size, had hit it from behind, resulting in at least 1 fatality.
Has anyone got any details about it?
It was about 11.30pm,and I listened for about 25 minutes before calling it a day,and going into snooze mode.
Severe disruption was expected on the M62 motorway on Friday after a fatal road crash that closed the westbound carriageway.
A lorry and a car burst into flames in a collision near Hartshead Moor services at about 2305 BST on Thursday.
The driver of the car, a 40-year-old man from Huddersfield, was killed.
The carriageway was closed for five hours following the accident and was being restricted to just one lane on Friday morning, a spokeswoman said.
The lorry driver was apparently unhurt in the collision, she added.

I’d just loaded a box at Allied Colloids at Low Moor in Bradford shortly before and as I got to the top of the slip road from the M606 on to the M62 a couple of plod cars had just pulled up and were stood in the middle of the carriageway with light beacons waving the traffic off down to Chain Bar. This was about 2330 Thursday night.
It must have been up alongside Hartshead Moor services as you can see along that stretch of motorway from the slip road for a good mile before it curves round the services.
