Total gridlock today

“Sydthebudgie 1:51pm Wed 6 Jan 16
It’s about time they banned these lorries carrying dangerous chemicals from our roads altogether as there seems to be one of these severe incidents every other week. The companies should be forced to transport chemicals by rail freight. In the meantime, I hope the company involved is made to pay up for the damage and disruption and cover the salaries of all those police and highways agency staff who spend the whole day dealing with it.”

A typical joe public reply

How would you get the trains close enough to the factories? :bulb:

Well back in my day…

I can’t exactly say that. Most members on here are old enough to be my father

All well and good using rail freight :
So how are you going to get that chemical to the rail head to put it on the train ■■ :bulb:
And how are you going to get that chemical from point B rail head to the factory that requires it 57 miles away from the nearest train station
huh :unamused: huh :unamused:  :bulb:

He should have asked the Aussies for their opinion

To be fair to the pro rail lobby. Why would anyone want a relatively small truck crash involving a relatively small amount of the nasty stuff when they can have a much more dramatic train one involving a relatively much larger amount. :smiling_imp:

I’d love to see a train delivering fuel to the local BP/Esso/Tesco forecourt…

We got it all reopened at about 3-50pm, but outside lane closures are going on tonight so that the temp repairs to the barrier can be fully completed permanently, and there is also a lot of damage to the fibre-optic cables, these also need replacing.

The country would soon
come to a halt when those pesky leaves get on the line.

the thing is with trains is

and in the UK they go through towns and cities

What short memories the public have…

Didn’t even find the bodies of 30 people in the RAIL crash linked… :frowning:

Carl Usher… wot a berk.

There was a chemical spill at a school in Perth last night. The police cordoned off the area and turned out in large numbers with ambulances and a fire engine. There was no lorry or train involved. What would Joe Public say about that then?

Ahhh, what it must be like to live in your fantasy world.

Ahhh, what it must be like to live in your fantasy world.

No fantasy invovled here. If you care to check you will find the biggest majority of accidents are caused by human error.
