I drove down from Preston to brum leaving Preston at 8 am sailed through Lymm and through the M5 junction !
Why was it so quiet for a Friday ?
No idea. On the agency front speaking to several agency drivers its certainly been quieter than last year. Someone I know has a few vans in at one pallet/parcel network depot I was doing a lot of work at last Xmas. This time last year we were doing extra trunks every night of the week and the place was rammed. He said his van drivers are finishing around 2pm at the moment. Given they cover the entirety of the YO postcode which is a bloody large area, its quite worrying.
Did you check that your load was still on?
I wish Salisbury was quiet !

If he’s up that area, its most likely been nicked!

Really, I thought there’s a massive current driver shortage? Agency bods should be busy as hell, 2 weeks to go now.
Most Fridays are quiet up till about midday, when all hell breaks loose as the suicidal lemmings are released and can’t wait to smash into each other, but i agree it was a breeze cruising down the 6 past Walsall and Brum around 0945 this morning.

I tried that back in early nineties when I had my vans running out of Scarbro’. Told the company that I would try it on a trial basis for a month, glad I had a good paying contract elsewhere with ICI 'cos I made bloody Nowt out of it
Was quiet tonight coming back up north, bit of a snarl up J15-J16 because of a break down but other than that cruise control pretty much all the way up
What’s going on■■?
How odd, I also noticed how quiet it was from Manchester to Bristol, the M6 to the M5 road works at rush hour, I sailed through.
It was exceptionally quiet this morning on my usual run over to Deeside, all the usual pinch points were clear, can’t understand why
Going east from lpool to Immingham all week traffic was dead , usually chocca round the 60.
Left Willesden at 7am this morning For Tilbury did it in 1hr 15mins round the north circular what’s that all about lol

Depends where you are in the country. I could have more work than I can handle if I was willing to have a 120 mile round trip to work and back.
I ran down from Stoke, sailed through J10-J8 around 05.45, had a buffet breakfast at Stobbies, Crick & was back in the yard in MK at 08.15, traffic was really light, but then it always seems to be fairly light on Friday Mornings.
(Unless the Lemmings have run into the back of each other [emoji57])
Tipped in Brum at 7.30am then given a Cradley Heath load for 9.30am expecting a nightmare run round Brum so as by J5 of M6 went south and span her round at J4 to go north and it was clear as a bell. Didnt even have to use lane 3 to pass usual J6 fiasco (dont get excited, 4 running lanes smart motorway active).
Was tucking into a sweet sausge egg and tomato sarnie at the cafe in Cradley by 8.15, even had time to drop the kids off at the swimming pool.
I had a back load of timber out of Tilbury docks yesterday. Got there at 13:40 thinking like on a normal Friday be there till at least 17:30 but no. Stright in to Denholmes, around to shed 46 waited 20 mins got part loaded there then around to Forest Products to book in for shed 42, not one truck there, got to shed 42 there was just one truck, got other part of the load on then back around to Forest Products time it took all in about 1 and half hours
I said to the forkie who loaded me," you’re quiet for a Friday ain’t you?" And he told me that it had been like it for about the last 2 month, they can’t shift the stuff they have got as nobody is buying ouwt and worryingly he told me that they can judge when a rescission is coming usually about 6 month before it happens and the same for when a recession eases and things pick back up. So if what he said is true there could be worrying times ahed in the not too distant future.
I’ve also heard experts on the news etc saying that we will be going back into a recession before long in the last few week.
