M6 Northbound accident

Northbound early hours of this morning near Preston…

Was heading south, saw the blue lights, Jeez what a mess, must of only happened 10 mins prev, as only 1 cop car on scene… Methinks at least one fatallity. Poss Car transporter driver…

Anyone heard anything??

Any idea whos transporter?

No mate, cab was a right mess, too shocked at the scene to really take in the names of companys involved…

Looked like two artics, front one poss foreign fridge, then a van sandwiched between fridge and transporter plus looked like a couple of cars…

To my mind looking at the van, he and fridge had stopped and transporter has hit em up the back, really was sod all left of the van,and debris everywhere…

Was it this one?

An horrific multi-vehicle pile-up brought the the M6 to a standstill last night.
The accident shortly before midnight, between junctions 26 and 27 - Orrell and Shevington - involved three lorries, four cars and a camper van.

All three lanes of the northbound carriageway were closed through the night leading to lengthy tailbacks as emergency crews battled to cut out people trapped in their vehicles.

Two people were taken to Wigan Infirmary, one of them is believed to be critical, while another is suffering from leg injuries.

It is believed the accident happened as traffic slowed down as it approached roadworks.
Police said a HGV driver had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the accident.

Fire crews from Wigan and Skelmersdale, police and paramedics spent hours at the scene with the motorway finally reopening at 8am this morning, but the sliproad remained closed to facilitate the recovery of the vehicles.

John Cooper, Watch Commander from Wigan fire station, said: “It’s incredible anyone got out alive from the wreckage. Everyone worked together to free the trapped drivers.”

A busy section of the M6 has been closed following a six-vehicle collision.
A police spokesman said there were injuries though he did not know how serious they were.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "A HGV collided with the rear of a queue of stationary vehicles.
"The driver of the HGV has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Yes mate must have been…

So must have been a camper van in the sandwich, rather thana ‘normal’ van then… No fatalities (Yet as 1 critical) in that mess, some lucky people about I guess…
