Anyone working nights will know that the closure-addicts at Highways England have been closing the M6 northbound at J10 at night. It’s a simple ‘off-on’ closure, sending traffic up the exit slip then back on to the motorway down the entry slip whilst they do something on the bridge below. But it has been taking in excess of 30 minutes to get through, with traffic backing up to nearly J8. Is it really too much to ask that the phasing of the lights on the roundabout at J10 be changed to reflect there’s a ton of traffic coming up the exit slip, but virtually nothing coming round the roundabout as it’s the middle of the bloomin night!! Then there might not be thousands of haulage companies forking out for us all twiddling our thumbs sat there in a queue because the powers that be don’t have 2 brain cells to rub together.
Seems sensible,
There’s the info you need to know, Get on and tell them of your suggestion, It will be Area 9 doing the work or Major projects

This might be handy for the night trunkers upcoming closures in that neck of the woods, 3rd tab journey impacts

Or… when they close the road just flick the switch on the lights, thus making it into a give way junction.
So glad I don’t do night trunking atm, sounds like a bleeding nightmare.
Or just go up the toll road
Left West Broms football ground at 11pm last night took 2hrs to get back to stoke…happy days
Wait till they start re designing J10 island itself putting an extra lane in will go rat ■■■■ when that starts
As work is in Willenhall getting back to the yard will be a more of a joke than it is now

Haha, as if my employers would fork out for us to go through the toll every night. They would much rather us come up with ingenious alternative routes via the back roads of Walsall and Lichfield and pay us 30 minutes extra than fork out £8.17 per night on the toll.

I suspect given the extra time and fuel useage from all the messing about with diversions, they end up paying more or less the equivalent of what the toll would have cost anyway.

You’re right, but the powers-that-be aren’t bright enough to recognise that, and as an hourly-paid employee I’m happy enough to benefit from all the chaos at nights, I’m happy for them to keep paying me £8 more per night in wages rather than putting £8 into the M6 Toll coffers
