Obviously we can’t say but in general that is a big problem.
Still RIP

Not paying attention, Not leaving a safe distance.I suggest that until the facts have come to light (if they do) that you keep your opinion or comments to yourself. This will rub many people up the wrong way and I’m sure many will agree. R.I.P drivers involved, sad times.
Face facts they have run up the back of each other, to close and not paying attention.
The HSS driver (blue truck) was a lad called Mike Proctor from Southport, only 22 with a young child.
The Spar driver was called Alan, and was set for imminent retirement from James Hall, Preston (Spar), and had actually already recieved his retirement present from the firm.
Just thought I would fill in their details from their friends on facebook, as they are both local lads.
RIP both of them.

True, but we’ve all been there haven’t we? Getting closer to the vehicle in front and contemplating the overake, thinking to myself “if something happens in front I could be dead,” but probability says it will be ok.
To overcome this you would have to enforce a minimum distance between trucks. It would be like driving in the Mont Blanc tunnel. And to make it practical, you would probably have to ban hgv overtaking as well, and enforce a 50mph limit so that everybody keeps to their place in the convoy.
Also on Monday, another fatal…

He’s a friend of a friend very sad
How much of it is due to tiredness due to agencies ringing at stupid times. I kicked an agency in to touch recently as on the rare occasion they offered work it would be about 3pm to do a night shift at 8pm or 11pm
Non by the looks of it. If you on agency u only sleep waiting for the next call.

So the brakes never failed on the Spar truck ? So something never rolled around the cab that wasn’t secure and ended up under the brake pedal when he needed to brake quick ? Driver of the Spar truck never had a heart attack ?
You can face what may have have happened but you can’t say for sure.

No it doesn’t happen to me because unfortunately for me many years ago before I could take my class one me and my little Ford Cargo was hit from behind in stationary traffic pushed 10th feet in to the fridge trl in front, ended up with the cab being wrote off and me being in a bit of pain. So I never sit up the backside of the one in front.

Dafman, like I said the driver of the spar truck could have had heart attack. The blue truck could have been stopped in the queue and just shunted from behind or something. If you ask me he has been unlucky. If they were trundling along at 2 or 3 mph he won’t have had his foot on the brake or handbrake on, if the spar fella has clobbered him from behind for whatever reason in that scenario then he is going to have probably broken the blue flat back drivers neck or squashed him to death when he was inturn thrust into the back of the front vehicle.
Welcome to trucknet. Where every one can be a crash scene investigator.
