M6 a bit slow.

Closed at J19 most morning, finally reopened, closed again for another fuel spillage… :unamused: :open_mouth: wtf are people doing out there?
I’m going to put the kettle on again.

It was more than a bit slow, it was a disaster!

just prior to 6am, a HGV travelling N/B started to go up the exit slip at J19 before crashing through the offside barrier of the slip-road, down the banking dragging the barrier with him, through the H/S barrier of the main c/way, jack-knifing and into the rwks vary-guard barrier in the central res, finished up jack-knifed across all lanes, with the barrier stuck underneath him, loads of soil & ■■■■■ from the embankment.
An up and over closure was put on for that, ie. Up the exit, back down the entry slip. The problem being that J19 is a very busy junction, with it being the rat-run to the M56 at j7, the the T/lights will only let about 6 veh’s through at a time.
You can imagine how traffic started to build up very quickly on the approach to J19, there was then a lot of difficulty getting services to the scene due to HGV’s and cars stopping on the H/S for what-ever reason.
Meanwhile, a HGV driver called up saying there was an oil spill between J18 - J19 (in the traffic queue) and he was loosing traction on it. We eventually found a spillage of over 5 miles in lane 1, where a mobile crane had lost all his hydraulic oil whilst travelling in the queue. This needed treating ASAP, the only way to treat it was to close the motorway between J18 - J19. ( It’s totally unfeasible to put out temp traffic management for a closure of that length)
We had to get 2 gritters and a sweeper to attend to sort out 5 miles of an oil slick, then the road was opened as soon as possible.

Please guys, lets have a quiet day tomorrow!

Soon be chaos Friday

It caused chaos on the surrounding routes.

More like how the f*** do you go up a nice easy slip road like jnc 19NB and f*** it up so badly :open_mouth:

The usual 3am sleepy Joe probably.
What time it open I avoided it via m54 and a41 and into Winsford early afternoon just wondered if I needed to avoid at that time. No hardship for me either way.
