All I will say is, when you see how close drivers follow each other it’s no bloody wonder. End of. Will people ever learn to follow at a safe distance?

Tell me about it…

Using a mobile/camera whilst in control of a vehicle. tut tut tut.

No doubt Ian Frankel will get a penalty notice from jobsworth coppers.

A ‘Vincents haulage’ lorry has stuffed the back of a chemical tanker and it’s leaking all over the place.

18,000 litres of corrosive liquid spilled out onto motorway and fire service declared major incident. Why? Because some ■■■ was following too close or not concentrating and couldn’t stop when the tanker did.

The front of the Coltons looks a bit bent too.

Oh so we’ve got a second ■■■ following too close as well then?

why are they flying scientists in to find out what the chemical spilled is ? shoudnt it say exactly that on the ADR documents carried by the driver and copies held by the sender etc ? or has someone been alittle bit economical with the truth as to what they were carrying/ sending ?

What have you got to say now about tailgating Bluey Circles?

I thought that! Everyone saying we don’t know what it is. Surely there must be some kind of manifest/documentation or at the very least the office of the haulage firm should know EXACTLY what it is!

People need arresting and charging with negligence…Then when they have done with the office staff, the drivers need taking somewhere quiet and disposing with.
This country really is 3rd world in so many ways.

Surely under ADR rules that the driver must carry documenation that has the chemical being carried full name, UN number, PG and Hazard class? At least thats what our paperwork says.

I wouldn’t like to be the insurance company of the truck behind. That is going to be a rather large bill I would say!

Let’s face it, if a tanker with 18,000 L of fluid on could stop for whatever reason it did, then a small flat with no load on should have been able to if they weren’t too close or were concentrating

I never bother using lane 2 in that section, no advantage with all the car drivers, lane 1 and a massive gap, adds less than 5 mins to your journey.

Apparently this was the chemical that was being carried ‘Glutaraldehyde’

Read this link, sounds like dangerous, nasty stuff, you can understand why it was all shut down now. It looks to me like the Coltons motor pushed the m/t flatbed Vincents rigid into the tanker, just a guess though.

That’s what someone was saying on Faceache:

Car pulled into his stopping distance. Automatic anti-collision braking then activated slowing the truck very quickly. The truck behind would have stopped but was unfortunately shunted into the tanker by a 3rd wagon

And the car was probably off, gone, and oblivious to what he’d just left behind. But still, both trucks should have been able to stop reglardless of how hard the tanker had to brake! Both or at least one following too close. It hit pretty hard looking at the back of the tanker!

Let’s be a little bit honest here people.

You are doing 50 mph in 3 tight lanes close together and you are approaching the services. YOU BLOODY WELL KNOW THAT SOMEONE WILL NO DOUBT DIVE OUT FROM THE EXIT SLIP, OR AT THE VERY LEAST A WAGON OR TWO ARE GOING TO WANT TO JOIN.

It’s garbage driving full stop. Friday afternoon obsession with getting home as fast and dangerous as possible :unamused:

Unfortunately a large percentage of us simply cannot be trusted to drive a lorry carefully and whilst sober. We deserve every form of surveillance possible fitted to our wagons now sadly. Only our own to blame yet again :frowning:

The continuing evolution of self destructive behaviour is truly well and thriving within the haulage sector.
