The M56 motorway remains closed between Junction 12 (Clifton) and Junction 14 (Hapsford) on the Westbound carriageway.
While emergency services working with the Highways Agency have managed to open up Lane 3 past the scene of the incident, congestion remains significant in the area. Motorists, particularly those planning to travel towards Chester or North Wales on the M56, are strongly advised to plan an alternative route or to delay their journey.
The incident was reported at 10.15am on Tuesday 12 August 2014, when a lorry has collided with the barriers running alongside the M56 on the Weaver Viaduct, and come to rest on the embankment below. Emergency services remain at the scene of the collision, and are likely to be there for some time.
