Yeah very bad apparently and for a change no lorries involved, someone was run over by several vehicles after a smash…bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-43001320
It says in the bbc link it could be shut into the weekend! How on earth can they justify keeping it closed for so long? Ok someone died i understand but come on really…

Could just be “dramatic reporting” if they’d have said “not expected to re-open until maybe after midnight” doesn’t have the same impact as “could be shut into the weekend”.
Looking at the pictures on that link with all those forensic chaps in white suits walking shoulder to shoulder, there’s more to that incident than what we’re party too!
And it is the actual part of the road they say it is because I recognise it.
Have heard that the guys in white were looing for body parts

Local news has said it was a 29 year old Bridgewater woman who was killed.
As I understand it she got out of the car and walked across the other carriageway and got hit…probably dazed and shocked…
Not her fault
The motorway needed to be closed Both ways. For 12 hours so that the coroner can make a decision as to the exact cause of death.
The many people that missed hospital appointments, had heart attacks from the stress of traffic jams the small businesses that have suffered a major set back as a result have to get to the back of the queue …the coroner takes priority…happy days…the highways agency and council and police will all be very busy claiming on insurance…

couldn’t somebody have stopped the lady from wandering off? weren’t the drivers on the other side ‘rubber neckin’,and slowing down?
i wasn’t there…but seems a needless tragedy to me
RIP young lady, such a sad loss for the family.
What i cant figure is they say 6 cars hit her, but non have been found and they might not have realised. Pretty sure if you wack into someone you should notice!?
There is a graphic reason why you might not realise you had hit something of the the size and weight of a person.
Whilst the first person or 2 should have definitely known what they hit after that there might not have been much left/hit smaller pieces

I’m struggling to understand this post.
Reading my post back I think I’ve worded it incorrectly- kcrussell25 explains it better.
Going back about 15 years, I was driving in fog in the evening rush hour on Norwich bypass and I noticed 2 cars on the side of road with their hazards lights on. As I got closer I moved over on the overtaking lane then out off the fog I ran over a lot of blood and guts which I thought was a large dead animal. I did my drop and headed back when I found the bypass shut, where I thought I ran over a dead animal was in fact a old lady and her dog.
I phoned the Police the next day and they said so far I was the thirty five person to ring who also ran her over. so it is possible at the M5 crash to run someone over thinking its a dead animal.
