M5/M6 28/10/11.Nearly a 100 mile jam

What the hell was going on,it was solid from Worcester to Brommie,Traffic Sally said nearly 35 miles of jams, and even worse further up on the M6,due to emergency lane repairs, the 3 cars that had a minor bump on the M5 northbound, caused a huge tailback.

It looked very impressive from where I was sat (which was in a jam southbound from j23 to the M5, then from Frankley services to Worcester :frowning: )

It was the longest one i have seen, sunny and warm day too.

I heard the problem was caused by a car with an offside puncture and the Highways Agency were involved.

I could have made a fortune selling drinks and ice cream from the hard shoulder, they can do that in India and other countries.Or wheel my bike up there with a fridge box, ripping off car drivers.

yawn

Actually I was in it this time (instead of just seeing it happen on CCTV)
We started to queue at J25, this was caused by a stranded car in lane 2 around J22, we then got moving again when that had been cleared, only to grind to a halt with a HGV broken down in lane 2 just after J21A, it picked up slightly over Thelwall, only to stop again for the usual lane dodging around J20 (Lymm) then again at J19. it was then slow / go / stop for the rest of the way until be got past the M5, There were a number of minor fender-benders all down the motorway that had obviously been cleared to the H/S, but not before causing mayhem.
The run back last night did make up for it though, a clear run all the way up.

Things must have been that bad as they were being ADVISED to go M11/A14 (according to the matrix signs). IMO the M11 was dead, guess thick ■■■■■ opted to go and sit in “100miles” worth of traffic instead.

I suppose it would depend on where they all where going to, A14/M11 only any good if you going to london area, but if they where going the SW I’m surprised as every time theres a jam and i try to avoid it so does every other (zb) So sometimes you may as well sit it out in a que
