But the clue was in the question…Motorway! I know Jack compared to most on here. But I know what road I’m on too.
From my experience, I don’t think all drivers realise what road they are on because the M42 only goes to near Ashby de la Zouch (J11) and from there to the M1 it is an A road, but they still drive at Motorway speeds - cars and trucks alike.

Why wouldn’t cars still travel at motorway speed limits?

OH. MY. GOD
The speed limit for a car on a dual carriageway with a national speed limit is the same as a motorway so they should be doing the same speed as they would on a motorway.
Well if nothing else, this thread is showing up all the people who are responsible for the DCPC being introduced.

totally agree with you , theirs far too many out the exceeding the speed limit without realising the change in the road .i.e lack of hard shoulder usually gives it a way, sudden appearance of layvby’s, the blue end of motorway sign spread across the carriage way… yet they still seem to race on doing 56 mph +…

Send your licence to…DVLA SWANSEA, SA99…If you need an answer for THAT question. You shouldn’t be driving.
I think this kind of thing is the reason we have a DCPC.
why on earth would i need DCPC for ?
when they still spout on that i need to take a 30 minute minimum break to satisfy the 6 hour RTD rule
ermmmmm as if.
ermmmmm as if what?
If your on local work and havent accumilated 4.5 hrs driving after 6 hrs working, wtd says you have to have 30mins break . . . simples
ukthugz:
no the DCPC bloke was saying i have to take a 30 minute break before my 6 hours are up , which is a load of ■■■■■■■■
he had a slide saying
" a driver must have a minimum 30 minute break before exceeding 6 hours workin time."
Point taken .The way thats worded. . . . grey area.
Nothing grey about it. He was saying, if you exceed 6 hours working time, you must have a 30 mins break. He didn’t put it as simply as he could have, but he was still correct.
Quote “Nothing grey about it. He was saying, if you exceed 6 hours working time, you must have a 30 mins break. He didn’t put it as simply as he could have, but he was still correct.”
If he wanted to be even more correct he’d add: …“provided that you haven’t already taken
driving time breaks within that 6 hours”.

If you mean the instructor he not only never put it as simply as he could he put it totally wrong.
According to ukthugz he had a slide saying “a driver must have a minimum 30 minute break before exceeding 6 hours working time” which is wrong.
This does seem to be what many DCPC instructors and some driver assessors are saying, doesn’t make it right though
