A LORRY has smashed through a motorway central reservation and collided with a car.

The dramatic collision happened at about 11.25am near to junction two of the M42 in Alvechurch, Worcestershire, but luckily no-one was injured.

Police, ambulance and fire service crews attended the incident and long delays are expected as recovery efforts and lane closures continue.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance and one paramedic officer to the crash.

Staff assessed the drivers but no-one required hospital treatment.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Droitwich, Redditch and Bromsgrove were also present and helped to make the scene safe.

Firefighters tweeted from @HWFireControl: “RTC [road traffic collision] - HGV v car. Luckily no persons trapped. HGV across central reservation, crew made safe.”

At 1.04pm police officers from the Central Motorway Police Group added on the social media site: “Delays on the M42 caused by LGV breaching the central barrier after being hit. Thankfully no serious injury. Recovery efforts may take some considerable time resulting in delays well into the afternoon or later.”

Ah well can only get better

You would have been through in 15 mins if the water fairies weren’t called in.

Making safe usually means closing the motorway 10 miles in each direction to disconnect the battery leads  I suppose it justifies their jobs
