Is closed between 13 & 15 because of (according to BBC travel) an accident between a car and pedestrian. Dunno if there is roadworks along there n its a worker been hit or a goon taking a walk. Traffic towards 13 was back to the mile marker but was moving ok when I came off
Got stuck in it around 10pm, luckily I only needed to go up the A34 anyway, but it added half hour to the journey.
No great reason apart from the great british driver’s inability to merge and just general panic behaviour when they can’t work out a diversion. A34 is a fairly major and well know north/south route, if you go either way, you will find a reasonable route to carry on West without much difficulty. Didn’t stop me getting up up twice on my short trip round the roundabout though
Hope nobody died.
was on it tonight as well around 11 and was still closed didnt know why but on way back around 1 it was opened again didnt take much notice of road works on it or not as so used to seeing them on the m4 now
Oh dear…another one lost simply earning a few bob for his family…in hindsight, these boys know the risks they have to take and sometimes do seem to play a game of ‘chicken’. Saying that, how often have we all seen a car (as myself and WG experienced last night ) approaching the start of r/works or lane closures and leave it till the last minute to find a gap to squeeze into? And how many of us actually sit at the designated speed (40/50mph)? Admittedly, i dont until i can see the guys ahead n just ease off and if possible i ride the rumble strip just to give 'em a tad more space…i dont wanna be responsible for taking someones head off as they appear from the side of the wagon to drop a cone. The same as i pull into the middle lane if a tyrefitter is present (we’ve all seen the pictures on here) or if anything is on hard shoulder. If u are unfortunate enough to be behind me on the m/way,try n keep up but as we approach the workers, please be prepared to slow down and add a few seconds to yr journey. Will i get shot down for saying this■■? Probably!! (i am not a member of the Holier Than Thou brigade by any means, just doing wot my old fella told me to…many years ago)
Thankfully i was early last night and missed it.As Actrosman said i always try and move across for tyre fitters and recovery boys because it maybe me on that hard shoulder one day and always slow through road works even at 2am
My thoughts are with the mans family
