Not sure if this is correct. Aren’t courts the only authority that can demand your license is revoked?
And the DVLA. A roadside test alone by the police certainly not.
If you’re not fit to drive, for whatever reason, the police have the authority to stop you. They may not have the authority to take your licence, but they can certainly stop you from driving!
Generally, a court of law is required to remove your licence, but if you can’t meet one of the criteria of holding a licence, i.e. your eyesight is not to the required standard, the DVLA will revoke your licence on the spot!

I wasn’t disputing that fact merely curious about the actual process
Been wondering for a while, I have an 01 code on my licence as I wore contact lenses when I took my truck test… then had cataract surgery on both eyes so now have excellent vision and no longer need corrective lenses. So I suspect my licence would be checked and I’d be asked if I had contact lenses in. Am I still committing an offence not wearing corrective lenses if I don’t need em?
Keep meaning to send my licence back to DVLA with a Doctors certificate but I kept needing my original licence while doing agency work.
My plan if stopped is to say yes, I have lenses in and can see perfectly. I have, they put new lenses in when they did my cataract ops, it’s just that they’re not “contact lenses” as they are sewn in and I can’t take em out!
