M4 j15 wagon over

M4 incident today, hope the driver recovers ok, serves as a reminder that regardless of the size of the vehicle we drive, it’s quite a vulnerable position that we are in when driving.

Ime surprised the seatbelt didn’t hold the driver in the seat

It ‘appears’ the seat belt is fastened so the driver would be sitting on it, which might explain why he/she ‘appears’ to have ended up on the nearside. Perhaps if he/she was wearing his belt, they might have stayed in the driver’s seat!!

Box jockey goes for liedown on Roundabout shocker…

On a fresh barrier too…

EXACTLY as you can see the seatbelt would have held him in had it been worn

Never understood why people drive without a belt. Have seen plenty do it at pur place from various depots despite several major crashes and a couple dying in crashes since I’ve been there (no idea if seatbelts were involved).

Wonder if they were the reason for the dint in the passengers seat (that gotta hurt in itself).

One thing this demonstrates is what would happen if you roll the other way onto the barrier. Wouldn’t have done the driver any good either, even with a belt.

Hope they recover and learn from this, but suspect it will be a long recovery.

Be a long recovery if Greenmeadow were on the job, lorry would still be there.

My thoughts exactly

Idiotic if he or she wasn’t wearing it properly

It’s that ‘I’ll just hold it round me’ mentality that gets me

We have a couple of drivers who do this and you can instantly tell because they haven’t got the intelligence to uncouple the seat belt when they finish their shift and return it to its normal position instead they leave it across the seat and you can tell it’s been sat on !!

Do they not realize they open them self’s up to being sacked , as most big firms see traffic offenses and grounds misconduct (one of my work mates worked for Marmite and had a rollover which was not his fault , but they sacked him for having no seat belt on )

His trailer number plate is clearly visible in the pics. More proof that lorry drivers don’t make professors.

Some of these clowns need to watch this, I think they’ll wear their seat belt then

Got one I know of whom I’ve swapped trucks with a few times and the belt is always still attached. Of course they are the first to tell you all the b/s about fines for not turning the legs enough and such. Luckily not delt with them for ages.

Not sure if the insurance can refuse personal injury cover if you weren’t wearing it?
