ISTR that there was a huge fuss which went on for years, about building that section in the first place sometime around 1970 and again some long time afterwards.
What’s happening is what they said would happen once the Newbury bypass was built that the bottle neck would be moved to the bottom of the A34
It’s just taken longer than expected, used to be just Fridays now it’s everyday

I’m not a…
Road planner but seeing as the junction exists in it’s present form, all thats possible is a fly-over for the M271.
The problems we have stem from designs that are decades old and unable to cope with thousands of vehicles a day. In an ideal world, they should all be clover-leaf or similar road layouts. The idea that motorway volumes of traffic should stop, move up a bit, stop, move up a bit more, stop, look right and then go is pants.

A3/M25 Interchange. How many of us have been caught trying to get off the M25 to go South on the A3 or South from the A3 to get onto the M25?
The plan is to make all the left turns at this junction have it’s own dedicated left hand turn lane. Work was supposed to have started in December 2020 but has been delayed.

[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] I’ve said for years that the A34/M3 at Winnal should be a flyover, now the powers that be are making it into an even bigger F##k up. The n/b a34 should be 2 lanes from Winnal roundabout with the A33 being an off slip.
