THE eastbound carriageway of the M27 will be completely closed for three days, it has been revealed.
The motorway will be closed between junctions five and four on March 9, 10 and 11.
A diversion will be put in place guiding traffic down the Bassett Green Road and Stoneham Lane for traffic wishing to travel east from the M3.
Those travelling along the M27 will have to travel up the M3 to Eastleigh, come off at junction 13 and then rejoin the southbound M3, before following the diversion.
Southampton City Council are expecting the roadworks and diversion to cause a lot of problems for motorists and have advised that drivers leave extra time for any journey they have to make over the three day period.
If the weather results in the work being delayed, the closure will be put back until March 23, 24 and 25.
