Between southmims and m11 is it me or is the middle lane a bit tight thorough their and what is it with the car drivers siting in the middle lane when the inside lane empty doing 45 mph
I have been thinking this too. When going passed another waggon you need to be hanging out in the third lane.
Yes deffo, most of these roadworks tight. Especially if I’m carrying a big machine that overhangs a few inches either side.
If you think that lane is tight … try the roadworks on M62 from Jnc 26 Eastbound … Southern softies
In some roadworks, its very tight, especially when being overtaken by a fellow trucker ( theres always one who doesnt like the 50mph speed signs ) anyway, in my worldly opinion, i would ban overtaking by HGV`s in roadworks, i have seen many accidents in my time, a lot of them in roadworks, and a lot caused by inconsiderate drivers who believe that they will lose 2 minutes of valuable time, by overtaking a trucker whos doing the max speed permitted in roadworks, tailgating smaller vehicles, and side swiping other vehicles mirrors.

More the case that some drivers trundle along at 40

some of the Balfour Beatty supervisors are the biggest tossers i have ever met…
The pot holes on the hard shoulder round the Clackett Lane area are incredible. It’s a proper challenge to keep yourself from being thrown into lane 2
Yeah I’d agree tight as well in my limited experience.
Like Mickyblue, I thought I was going to clip a mirror, while a nearside lorry was doing 40 at 0530 Sat Morning. Not advocating speeding in road works, as I’ve been on the other side of the barrier, so know how the other side feels, but there wasn’t anyone working as that would usually be end of shift for night works anyway! So I did a partial straddle of the outside lane, until I got past.
Held up two cars who came speeding down through the roadworks. So I know they weren’t doing 50 otherwise they should never have caught up with me, so thought zb it, hold the line and look after them two’s licences as well (all heart I know)
Got past easily then doing a slight straddle, however if it was any other part of the day, afternoon or a weekday, I’d have had to tow the line and enjoyed the 40mph “rush” and claimed a few more pennies. As I wouldn’t want to smash their mirrors or mine for running to the speed limit and have everyone trying to squeeze down the offside, running over the rumble strip. I could see it happening right now.
