Firefighters entered KFC to tackle the fire at Cobham Services
Parts of a service area on the M25 in Surrey remain closed after a fire at a KFC restaurant earlier.
Eight fire engines and three other vehicles were sent to Cobham Services at 07:30 BST, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
No casualties have been reported and the fire is under control, Extra Motorway Service Area Group said.
The HGV parking area, filling station and forecourt area were due to be reopened at 15:00 BST, it added.
All other parts of the motorway service station will remain closed until a full site safety investigation has been carried out.
Extra said in a statement: “We regret any inconvenience this causes but we hope that all customers can appreciate Extra’s need to prioritise public safety.”
Earlier accident
Long traffic queues also built up on the clockwise carriageway between junction nine for Leatherhead and Cobham because of an earlier accident.
The M25 service station - the fourth on the motorway - opened in September 2012 near junction 10 at Wisley.
It was the subject of a series of planning inquiries and was granted planning permission in 2005.

Bet it was a glorious smell for those parked up though. Wonder if any firemen found a few bits of fried chicken going spare.

I used to do the one at Marble Arch and they’d offer a fillet burger at 04:30
I was driving up the A3 round the corner from there (the Esher by-pass) and when passing by the A244 junction, I saw the southbound exit slip road blocked by two police motorbikes with blue lights flashing, with one car waiting at the top of the slip road. Further down, I saw two vehicles - a van with some kind of arm pointing upwards to the front, followed by an artic, both doing about 5mph. Then a few hundred yards on again, the police were holding the traffic to about the same speed. Anyone know what was going on? The two vehicles didn’t have flashing lights and it didn’t look like an abnormal load.
