‘Managed motorway’ actually means four lanes of traffic all travelling at the same ‘managed’ 40-50 mph speed.They’ve lost the plot in that the original object of the excercise in building a motorway was to provide higher speeds whereas now they’ve just given in to the idiots who want to travel in lanes 2 and 3 at 50 mph by altering the speed limits to suit and forgetting all about the idea of lane discipline by putting in as many lanes as possible and just telling the idiots to take their pick.

That and the fact that “Managed” and "gantries " with Speed camera’s fitted to them = Revenue generation ,which is all they bothered about
