M18 today

I was returning from Driffield and shot down the A614 from gate 1 of the M180 to Bawtry, had to do another minor diversion as that road was closed at the Bawtry end as well! Queue was just back up to the M180.

I remember a van driver who was delivering in Matlock a few years ago going the wrong way down a one way street, he cleaned a few parked cars up and was later found to be suffering a diabetic hypo. Can easily happen if you miss meals etc. The car owners were complaining that he was drunk as he was slurring his words and unsteady on his legs yet there was no alchohol smell on his breath, similar symptoms I guess.

Pete.

Have you been on Mad Dog’s Reiver Pete, that’s a long way to go with a bit of tarmac, I bet you had to help them hand lay it too, or have you just been on a jolly, I’m glad you managed to set your Sat Nav to get you on a diversion route back home or did you just keep looking in front of you & heading for Enthoven’s chimney ? I had to go a little further up that coast on Sunday night, Mr. Shipton sent me to Whitby to rescue a coach that was broken down blocking a set of traffic lights off, never even had time to go to that fancy fish & chip shop in the town for tea.

Been exhibiting at the Driffield Vintage Rally Rob so had the van and wobbly box, great fun in that wind, the fuel guage dropped as fast as the speedometer needle :unamused: No sat-nav’s here either, just a reasonable memory! Oh and you be careful going that far up country, you Warwickshire/West Midlands specialists will be way out of your comfort zone there. Thought that I might see you (and Mad Dog) at Cromford but I was spared that at least! Keep dragging them in!

i only asked what happened, why does it turn into a slanging match and a lecture, calm down

Poor old diabetic chap had some sort of fit, brushed against six vehicles in a queue of traffic before planting himself into the car transporter. Must have been on cruise control. Thankfully only minor injuries all round, and no Stobarts to blame.

i didnt think a diabetic was aloud to drive a hgv due to there condition

If they don’t require insulin injections they can

Regardless of the type of diabetes and the treatment if they satisfy the DVLA med branch that they have good control then they can drive whatever they are entitled too.
