After my frustrating run from Stoke to Stanstead last Saturday morning when I found both the A14 and M11 closed and lost a lot of time following diversions, when I had the same run this morning I took “The long way round”,A50,M1,M25,M11 and got there in three hours forty, instead of the four hours thirty one last week.
I saw no warning of anything on either the A14 or M11,just like last week, however,as I was going north on the M11 from the M25,the overheads warned that the M11 and the A14 were closed.
What I did see that I could not understand,as I was n/b between J 7 & 8 on the M11 was a lot of trucks parked on the hard shoulders/b,most with no lights on,and a police car on the n/b police layby.
I decided to return the same route as going, and I counted exactly 40 east European artics in groups from 2 to 8 or 10 spread out between J8 and 7,most with no lights on and all with curtains closed.
WTF was this all about then?
Parked-up trucks could be result of earlier incident…

Wasn’t it closed for some kind of spillage? Praps they were caught in the closure?
A coupla gallons of cooking oil here and there…bring the country to a standstill
About 43 gallons (200 litres) of cooking oil from the 130-gallon (600 litre) capacity trailer spilled out on to the carriageway.
Software inventor and company MD Jonathan Nicol said: “10 hours to clear 140 litres = 14 litres / hr. What are they using? A bloke with a straw?!”

I try to check the traffic master app before leaving on a long jaunt, can usually spot any problems and re route. Google maps has traffic info now as well.
Was doing the dreaded a34/m40 Friday afternoon & just gave up at Cherwell when I clocked the lorry fire on the m40. No info on the overhead signs apart from “blockage” not what should have been “abandon all hope ye who carry on up here”.
As an aside what’s with that subsidence on the A34 north at Oxford, break your suspension!

I had to park up Friday night and run in Saturday morning due to the M11
I went to Stansted at 23:00 and there was still a 10 mile queue between bishops stortford and harlow. On the way back down at 01:30 the road had been re-opened and I counted 48 trucks parked up for the night with the matrix signs telling you not to use the hard shoulder. Seems they all ran out of hours and stayed the night there.
that lass is talking out of her arse saying she had a pizza delivered. for a start if the road was shut then no one would be allowed onto it and has a vehicle got to be over 250cc to use a moterway??

… err no - Motorbikes/scooters under 50cc are prohibited from motorway use
