Just like to say to the knob in the Home & Bargain double decker that undertook me on the M1 at the roadworks southbound just before the services at Toddington, when there was hardly any room for a car to squeeze in, you utter [zb], everyone was down to less that 40 and you could not be bothered to wait, so you came up the inside of the outside lane, (the other two were closed) at around 50 at least and proceeded to force your way into the outside lane, no wonder car drivers hate us, if I had time to write your number down, it would have been sent to the MD at the aforementioned company, along with the Stobbie driver that passed me watching a movie on some form of player on the centre console.
I despair of the ■■■■■■■■ that are coming into the job these days.
I agree with you, what’s up with everyone just lately, think all needs to chill and drive more carefully, it’s getting worse, I’ve been driving for 20 yrs now and in the last few yrs I’m beginning to hate the roads and certain people on them, it’s far too busy now!!

We all get annoied fella but you need to let things drop, stress wont do you any good, the only thing it will do is put you 6 feet under alot sooner. There will always be prats out there on the road, you just have to stay out of their way. Big deep breaths and a ■■■ settles me right down, lately i’ve been making a real effort to stay calm and chilled out, backing off the throttle is a good way to keep the stress levels down and it makes next to no difference in jounery times.
Sappers got a point, these twerps get all of us a bad name, they are bullies and idiots and the job would be better off without them.
A simple case of a lorry drivers insurance record being affixed digitally permanently to the driving card would be an effective cooler for some of them, as it is these numpties can flit from job to job without a care in the world leaving a trail of destruction in their wake and no one has a clue as to their history or competence…
…often enough these clowns have assessments off pat and tick every box possible, then other numpties in offices (who would once have been time served transport managers and seen through them pretty soon) think they must be the dogs danglies cos they did a good walk round check and employ them as professional drivers, you couldn’t make it up.

Why get stressed out and worked up by someone you dont know and we never meet, your heart can only take so much punishment and im certainly not going to wear mine out early over a prat in another truck.
The public thinks everyones an idiot, take nurses and doctors for example, you hear the stories about all the abuse they get from patients.
I’m not stressed Saaamon, i couldn’t care less for the planks, i let them go past asap, hopefully they’ll ram someone else up the arse or off the road instead, really don’t like them behind though sitting 6" from the back.
Sapper is annoyed with them, and he has every right to be.
I gave a simple soution to some of the idiotic driving by those behind the wheel of lorries…mandatory insurance recording on their licences, permanently…those who cause mayhem would soon be uninsurable, no job, cheerio.

This is why I am glad I am retired, the standards of hgv drivers as fallen in spite of all the rules and regs associated with driving now.
This is what happens when bits of kids are given a machine designed to carry goods, use it as a racing car or a mobile blackpool front,

I think mandatory insurance recording is a fantastic idea.
Hate to say it but I have personally witnessed on the receiving end terrible driving by the so called old timer professionals, in fact the older guys are definately the worst culprits for hanging other trucks out next to them for miles on end.
Only yesterday morning an old guy in his sixties in a bulker ran me down the hard shoulder as I joined an empty A1 at the bottom of the a19/168 J49, every lane beside him was empty and no traffic, after managing to blend in behind I followed him for several miles and watched him swerve in and out of the hard shoulder and lane 2 violently at least 10 times, clearly either knackered or not paying attention to the job in hand.

Maybe to you they might seem young, but most trucks drivers are well over the age where they could be considered kids, even though there are those who act like spoiled brats.

So because he never moved over you continued to drive down the hard shoulder , even though HE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY
Do you know what the markings at the end of a slip road mean ?

He was obviously one of those ‘pro’s’ who doesn’t like the idea of keeping things safe and moving by nipping out into lane 2 when your halfway down the slip road, you know the ones, some of them can be found in the ‘do you throttle back when being over taken thread’ !!! And i’m gonna stick me neck out here but I bet you would have held your speed until he (and any others that had followed him out) were past you before building up your speed! Maybe just even lifting 4 fingers of your right hand off the wheel in a cheeky little ‘cheers for that driver, much appreciated’ manner! Gives ya that fuzzy feeling But then again, what do I know! But on the other hand, what the hell were you doing driving on the H/S, you know it’s a no-no, no matter what…you should really be diving on the brakes and causing carnage behind you on the slip, until safe to enter…and that’s been discussed on here before aswell! Irrespective of the speed down the slip and trying to judge it so you can slip in a gap, sometimes, just sometimes, we have to use a small strip of the H/S (providing there is nothing parked within 100yds). I’ve done it before and i’ll do it again and i don’t care who says what!
I was just waiting for that, took longer than I expected tho.
As you may well know that entry slip is quite short and some what blind, we met with me half a truck length ahead of him but probably 5 or 10 clicks slower, looking in my mirror and seeing zero traffic I fully expected him to blend to lane 2 as I would have done given the zero traffic, by the time I realised he wasn’t going to give me any space the slip was all gone and I put the nearside wheels into the hs for probably 10 yards for a smooth merge rather than stamping on the brakes, and yes I one of those who ease out of it and flash and say thanks, increasingly these days for not even a thanks from fellow ‘professionals’, probably just being a see u next tuesday because I was in a Stobart Waggon, well aware of all the hate.
Wasn’t having a dig mate, was just commenting on ‘what he did’ against what i wouldv’e done/do. The bit about the H/S was the flip side of the coin which would probably have come from someone else!!
