Stick inflatable safety bags under the gantry and then send an officer up handcuff him and jump just like in lethal weapon. I get that he must have issues to be contemplating it in the first place but they need to find better ways of dealing with the situation.
The amount of money it’s costing businesses and road users in extra fuel, delays in deliveries and people being late for work because some selfish sod who wants to commit suicide decides let’s do it on the motorway. Plenty of places he could do it that would not inconvenience so many others if he really wanted too.
I wonder how many who threaten to jump actually would do it the minority I suspect.
He will most likely end up in a psychiatric metal secure unit in fact there’s one not far from Leicester from memory.
The government should invest more in mental illness to avoid these things happening. Judging by some Comments on this forum a fair few member could get help as well
That’s if we know it was a mental issue not just some scrote.
If he was going to jump he would have done it where he couldn’t be seen, once they choose somewhere they get exposure they aren’t going to jump.

Scrotes normally come down when they’re cold and hungry! According to the Daily Fail, there was an accident on a parallel road caused by rubberneckers, no doubt hoping for a fame inducing YouTube video. No wonder they have to close the motorway.

Total farce really that a bloke can simply climb up a gantry using the provided ladders and sit there with a major road shut underneath, for essentially as long as he pleases causing inconvenience & financial loss for thousands. 28 hours for ■■■■ sake, no doubt other wannabe protesters will have noticed this.
From what I have read, the guy wasn’t even on the wrong side of the barrier or threatening to jump. With that being the case, mental illness or not, it should have been a quick case of firing a tranquilizer dart or taser & dragging him down out of the way. Far too much ■■■■■ footing around.

The majority do it as a cry for help when at the end of their tether and don’t think they have anywhere else to turn. As for getting sectioned, I very much doubt it as the system doesn’t have the resources/capacity to deal with the need. Plus you only generally get sectioned for threatening to kill another and not yourself… I’d almost put money on the fact that once he’s been charged, he will be released and go on a waiting list for help that’s as long as your arm! And he’ll probably end up killing himself before he get to the front of that queue and some meaningful help…
