M1/M18 Roadworks

Lane priority has changed for access to the M18 when traveling north on the M1.

Now you must be in Lane 1 because just after the exit slip for J31 Lane 1 is separated off and anyone in Lanes 2 & 3 will not be able to cut across to the M18.

No, just cones - though you could stay in Lane 2, just to prove me wrong

Stan

Bet J31 now gets well stuffed

due to the numpties in lane 1 I decided to stay in lane 2, and pass the M18 exit, go down to the exit for the Sheffield parkway and double back for the M18 …much quicker

Shame on you Peirre, that’s called common sense - and it’s not allowed now

PS: When I came past this afternoon they were queuing to the top of the hill. Roll on Friday afternoon.

Lol … tbh stan i don`t have much choice of using the M18, as i have the misfortune of living down the road from the stockyard

Wrong :exclamation: Last night, a hundred yards or so from where lane 1 jumps onto the M18 a car went through the cones from lane 2, down the ramp, up the ramp and through the other set of cones to get into lane 1 :open_mouth:

theres always some numpty who`ll try to prove otherwise

Came past this afternoon at 1400 and queued from the services. It took me 20 minutes to get through and I was in lane 2.

Ohhh tomorrow aft is gonna be fun.

And why does that not surprise me!!!

Stan, you must have been right on my back door, apart from the traffic getting on Northbound from the A57 I can’t see what the hold up is, bloody snooker ball effect from Skateboards is the pain!! Lanes 2 and 3 should flow IMO, whadaya think?

why dont they just close the n/bound entry from j 31 during the road works
the diversion is not massive and they only need to close it at peak times
this would cure all the problems

or is that too easy?

Lane 3 does tend to flow but lane 2 is stop start at best. As others have suggested closing the access from J31 would be useful, but it’ll never happen.

(Thankfully today I was local, never touched the M1. In fact I spent more time sat waiting to un/load than driving).

hit the queue at 14.05 about 6 miles South of services…on the viaduct at 15.45
1 hour 40 for about 12 miles
I love fridays

finished up 20 mins over my 4.30 driving after hitting the bottle neck on the M62 as well

came off at 24 and went up the 614 (after the ring road) then a1 took 21/2 hours
usually takes 3- 4 hours up the m1 fri aft
