No idea what time it happened, but the cones and queues had started when I went past this morning just after 5.
I came back to Coventry from Dunstable via the M40, better than sitting in stop start traffic for hours !!
Happened around 02.00, they cleared the wagon, then had to organise the resurfacing.

How much diesel was spilt to cause 20-odd miles of road to need resurfacing

Looked like they were resurfacing about 300/400 yards, around 16.30 just after the north bound On ramp J16.
I can’t understand why the shut it from 15a, when everyone could have come off at 16 ■■?
I don’t think it made much difference - Within an hour or so the A45 to Weedon X would have been chocca anyway (the M1 itself would already have been queuing back to J15A as a result of the crash). At least by closing it at J15A it allows the traffic to disperse a little bit via multiple routes.

Suppose it would have given them another 2/3 miles to queue on.
Our night Trunkers were just starting to leave as I got back to the yard, don’t fancy their chances in the 1st trunk to Solihull & back. They’re not gonna be Happy Chappies in the morning. Lol.
One of our day Trunkers sat in it for 6 hours this morning, then spent the time moaning on Facebook, I told him to go Buckingham-Banbury-M40-M42-Solihull (takes about half an hour longer) a few months ago (if the M1 was knackered) you can’t tell some people. Lol.

Got told by one of our drivers who was coming s/bound its a Wisemans lorry which has jacknifed closing all 3 lanes
No point crying over spilt milk

It was all running normally just after 8pm.

Last time Catthorpe was closed for a crash I had a run to Milton Keynes and I came in from Birmingham via the M40 and A421. Put about 20-30 minutes on my journey, nothing compared to what was waiting for me on the official diversion.
