Justifying him driving with no mirror by suggesting ridiculous reasons is just no excuse to it.

As for the second bit: it actually happened. The nationality of the boss is relevant on the basis that it helps to show that the missing mirror was actually on the other side than the driver. But it is also a reasonable boss and after I explained why it is not going to happen, he organized a replacement van for me. My point was that sometimes driver has not much to say. In my situation if I was asked to drive a van without mirror to Switzerland and back, it woudl be propably parked under the nearest police station and I would be on my way home by hithchiking. But some drivers might not be able to just ditch their work at the opposite end of Europe and try luck in driving damaged vehicle in hope that it will be somehow. I am not telling that it’s a wise thing to do, but it might explain something

I have come to the conclusion based on most replies to this post , except Lukes and a couple of others, that you are all either lunatics or just pure dumb.
Some of the arguments and defence of this guy with no mirror on a LHD truck just amaze me.
Shows the mentality of the haulage Industry today.
We drive on the left here, not on the right, so you need a right side mirror. If a RHD truck has lost it then you can at least see below you and to your immediate right or even wind the window and stick your head out.
This guy cannot. He is a danger.
If this guy had wiped out a family in their car then I wonder what the response would be now?

It’s not so much that they condone these idiots, it’s more a case of arguing black is white for arguments sake.
A typical forum post runs like this
1 OP asks a question or makes a statement
2 First couple of replies are flippant comments or NTSA or troll or similar
3 Someone posts a relevant reply
4 Someone else points out they are wrong
5 Regular contributor wades in
6 People take sides
7 Multi page debate ensues with neither side backing down

alas, a sensible post! Sammy , posted a decent topic to highlight the dangers that the Foreign trucks pose to the UK and Ireland as we drive on the left.
Its incredible the amount of bad press he received with the replies; most of which are beyond logic. Unreal.
Surely if the driver has already brushed his hair then there’s no further need for a mirror !
Some ■■■■ in a skip wagon on the M6 once took out my N/S mirror arm. 3am, I took it to the services, and wrote on the back “some ±@!* has ripped my mirrors off, please pass with caution”
Took it to the main dealer and got it fixed as soon as they opened.
In all fairness though, my arm hadn’t been ripped off, and I swapped the wide angle from O/S wide angle to N/S, bit of a chocolate fireguard.

True. Everyone who works here and is entitled to child benefit can send that benefit whenever they want. If you work here, and your kids are with your grandparents in their retirement house in Spain, you can send your benefit (after you got it to your bank account) there.
