Hello chaps. New video up, first of my daft Top Tips idea. Bit more serious than my usual fare but I hope you find it informative and/or mildly entertaining. Also a poll is now up for the charity that the site will support. Tried to make a spread between British and Irish Charities, I may split the donation 50/50 between the top UK and top IRL charity. Personally I’ve voted for the professional drivers foundation.
Oh and there are t shirts up in the store now. Everything in there can be personalised with your name or whatnot, there are a variety of styles and they do send abroad.
Yes,very good-not only for first timers, but also for us old sods who haven’t been over for a good while. No merry damsels in the booths-just an impersonal ANPR --FAIL! So,you get your vinaigrette in what was the old ‘duty free’ now. What happened to the one on your left after you got your ticket, and had to go through the height check?.Calais has changed.A lot.Just one minor point, old chap–whyever did you say 'Here we are in Calais when you’d just got off the boat in the other place?
brilliant video, wish it was up for my first trip over as you are right in can be a bit daunting! keep them coming mate. its a nice blog you have swell i was contemplating setting one up but never had the time or the effort. may have to change that if i t start getting a bit more work
*apoligies to the grammar / spelling police * i have a new fangled computer that thinks it can edit my written word as it see’s fit and completely misses out random letters
Before I rant, I would just like to say that I do thoroughly enjoy all of your videos, and I also appreciate the time and effort you put into editing and uploading them for us all to watch…Thank you
So here is my little rant… You have… ipad, iphone, DAB radio, tom tom with live traffic…etc etc etc, but no proper HD camcorder…
We all know you’re skint but also a spend thrift by admission, so make “A Proper” HD camcorder your next unaffordable purchase so I can watch your “Trundlings” in high in quality…
Phew…rant over. Now move along…nothing else to read here…

It’s less to do with the quality of the iphone camera and more to do with the size I export them. In full HD one 20 minute video would use nearly one and a half times my inclusive data, not to mention clog up my already bursting at the seams laptop. That video would be 1.4 gigabytes in HD. The iPhone has the quality to do it but I just can’t afford it I’m afraid. It does after all have an HD camera.
So if you like you could have full HD, but at most I’d be able to make and upload one every couple of months. So, quality or quantity…

Don’t ■■■■■■■ start a negative rant on Luke’s videos on my behalf mate.
He’s politely explained why he’s using what he’s using, so don’t turn this post into another moan.
It was a “tongue in cheek rant”, but as always, to many on here looking for a negative and not a positive.
Sorry Luke, no more posts on this thread from me.
I saw his point and it was explained! And I got it was tongue in cheek! I thought I’d explain it as he’s not the first person to bring that issue up and it is simply the size of video files in HD that make it just too difficult.
Whenever I watch you tube via mobile tinternet I knock the quality down to its lowest to save data allowance.
Good vid as always Luke, fridges would be a good subject for another as would sliding roofs if you ever get any work for them. The 1st time I ever had to slide 1, I didn’t have a clue!
Yes fridges will certainly be making an appearance as will sliding roofs. Its much easier now as I’ve bought a little hands free camera. And looking like a Bluetooth headset as it does I can film much more without people wondering what I’m up to.
