itll happen...mark my words.theres every possibility that people could be injured here(and not just the driver of the car).
first time they do…they`ll sue, then the local autority will [zb] themselves and remove them.
far better to put a camera up and fine the culprits imo
Plenty of people have tried sueing but they have lost there is nothing illigal about the bollards

I don’t think they mean the people who hit the bollards, more like innocent pedestrians who get hit by flying bits of vehicle.
I’d say, from that drivers point of view, he saw 2 cars proceed in without any delay, so probably assumed it was a timed bollard and he was ok proceeding?
I think he’s got good grounds to sue myself and good luck to him

Absolutely no grounds to sue if there are clear warning signs before the gate with the bollard, following the “chancers” through and thinking you have enough time will always lead to this sort of thing happening.

It’s not about following chancers through, how many delivery points do you go where the gates are only locked at night, and the bollards behind raised etc.
If they’ve ordered the stuff, they must be expecting it to be delivered.
My missus said “is it manually controlled?” and I agree, I’ve had 2 barriers between my cab and trailer after the muppet security man has decided to close it early - luckily both times I was going slow enough that I didn’t just rip it clean off.

No delivery point i go to has automatic bollards to control traffic flow tbh!
I did say that “IF” there are clear warning signs before the gate with the bollard, then the chances of suing and winning would be zero if you ignore them and attempt to get through before it rises knowing full well it could, even if other vehicles just make it through in front of you.
However,if it is manually controlled, then there would be very good grounds to sue for your injuries that were caused as a result of someone else’s stupidity.
I agree its all to do with signage, its just the time gap between the van and him makes me think he wasn`t trying to piggyback but thought it safe to race on through.
I’ve yet to see manually raised big bollards like the ones in the vids.
They are automatic as far as I know, working on the same system as bridge tags do. A bus or taxi would have a tag in their windscreen, and some chancer in a shiny black 4x4 will think “If that white taxi git can get through there, then so can I!” - <Smack!>
As for people suing because they got hit by bits of car… For starters, I’d suggest that’s unlikely, since cracked sumps might drench the feet in oil & water rather than fuel, and any smacked off bits of bonnet/bumper etc will end up cascading around bystander’s ankles at best.
Not saying that debris cannot create havoc, as this infamous disaster shows…
This Le Mans Disaster, has to be said, was an absolute freak accident my dad told me about when I was a kid.
“In life, there’s always someone else worse off than you. Consider yourself lucky each and every day.”
its like that “famous” bollard in manchester city centre, lot of people chance it behind the busses and they fail, one person was driving an expensive porcshe 4x4 and it completely destroyed the radiator!!!
