Is anyone doing there own accounts for there limited company, if so what are you using to do them ?
Yes. I use FreeAgent, it’s the dogs ■■■■■■■■ for everything. Accounts, VAT (inc flat-rate), Corp Tax, Payroll (RTI submissions, & handles Employer Allowance), Self Assessment, dividends, invoicing, automatic sending & chasing of invoices, banking, everything. For a shed load less than an accountant would charge.

When you ask what are you using to do them?
I asume you mean the software to do the books, or do you mean software to do the end of year accounts.
I just use microsh*t excel spreadsheets for day to day bookkeeping etc, you probably already have a copy on your computer. My accountant is able to work with the spreadsheet I have & understand the info on it. Likewise I use excel to do the invoicing etc. Everything is formatted in a way that all I need to do is input the dates, hours, and monetary values and it automatically adds it all up, adds vat where nessesary & expenses, giving me the net & gross values.
I can then “save as” the selected invoice area as a Pdf document and then I can email the invoice direct to the client

books and end of year accounts, i dont know what to do, do i use a accountant or try and do it myself, that free agent does look good but a accountant will know alot more what you can claim for a hopefully cut my tax bill, can i ask how much you pay per month for your accountant ?
If you don’t really know what you can/should be claiming for, my advice would be to take advice from an accountant. With that said, there’s a difference between paying for advice and paying them to do everything for you.
FA also has an option to give your accountant access, so you can do the legwork, and have them ‘review’ it and suggest any changes/extra claims etc, for a much reduced fee of course.
Ok thanks that’s brilliant
My accountant gets a copy of my cash flow spreadsheet, a diary with various receipts in and paper copies of my bank statements once a year (OK twice, once to drop it off, & 2nd time to collect em & pay him). He then cross checks and verifies the info I’ve given him and submits my accounts, & tells me how much CT is due. He also submits my nil NI submissions and self assessment forms. Any enquiries, or correspondence I receive from HMRC is forwarded to him, and he usually responds within hours. I only deal with him annually not monthly.
HMRCs online platform allows you to give access to your account to the accountant
