I think you mean Lorena.I used to work for them and i ever saw the bloke again it would be to soon.He cheated drivers out of their redundancy money. He is that much of a coward the transport manager had to tell the drivers they had lost their jobs.

Hullo Bud143,
Whoops! , Sorry mate of course you are quite correct it was Lorena (ex Levitt) It,s a long, long time since I saw them, I used to go into there to get “Hutchie” to Service my Scania in about 1975 / 76. Funny thing happened to me there one evening :frowning: I had been getting the Service done, it was late evening in Wintertime. It started to snow so Hutch packed up his things and peed off, I then had to pick up my dropped MAT Tilt and get out of the Yard. Now as you came out of the yard you had to turn left up the High Street in North Newbald, this was quite tight with a 40’ Tilt and the road had quite steep cambers both sides. Well I got out but had to screw round to the left to get up the hill, my offside wheel got stuck in the gutter and was just spinning on the snow, diff lock did no good and I was stuck. This caused a bit of noise so woke up a few people, one bloke came out with a shovell and some ashes and as I edged forward he cleared the snow and threw down some ashes, fantastic, within 10 minutes I was out and on my way, Great. Not so great! one of the people who were woken up was a woman that lived right opposite the yard. She got out of Bed, took my number and went back to bed, within a week I had a Summons and it cost me quite a few bob, and a warning. Her name for those that can remember that far back was SHIELA FORBES :smiling_imp: Christ the very infamous Miss Forbes the Ministry Woman. I never knew she lived there, that really was an unlucky night eh ?
Cheers, Archie.

Oh yeah lol never clicked. To be honest before he took it over from his father in law they could well of had some but i dont know what the infamous GK Levitt ran!He knew exactly what he was doing he had planned it.He was to gready though he would just take money all the time.New X5s all the time a second hand but only about a year old merc.Constant holidays to Spain golfing etc.He had a transport manger but should have done the job himself, mind you he wasnt very good at it.Numerous times he sent more than one driver for the same load. They had the most stupid mentality if they had a blue eyed driver in Manchester and a driver considered a ■■■■ by them in Liverpool they would send the blue eyed one to Liverpool for a load home and the other to Manchester and run him away.If you had a dental appointment or parents evening they made sure you were away. Anyway the blokes a ■■■■ and he doesnt need to work ever again or worry about money.I just wish the drivers had got a thanks once in a while!

Hi Archie sounds like fun not! That was an unlucky night for you.I remember the old yard from going with me dad and how cars used to park opposite the entrance. It was never the built for anything over ten tonnes really was it.When i worked for them they had just moved to Market Weighton and i was fortunate they paid for my test.
