Loyalty

Is there still such a thing, either from your employer, to you, or you to your employer?
Do you stay out of loyalty, or until something better suits your aims?

Of necessity, loyalty is a two way thing but there’s little of it about. Bean counters think loyalty is over valued.

Loyalty doesn’t exist, it’s more likely “better the devil you know”.

…and to think that “Muckaway” is the one to ask such a question . :unamused: :unamused: :exclamation:

Loyalty is not slagging-off your past/current bosses on here . As it has previously been stated many times , some employers
can actually read their staff`s grievances on TNUK.

Oh,…for the day to come when “Muckaway” actually manages a full shift without any problems . :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Loyalty from my employer? Nope…
Do I show loyalty to my employer? Nope…

Just answer the forking question, we note your ability to use multiple smilies.

There’s no such thing at my place been there 14yrs working in the stores side of things for half that time. This year I get a demotion pay cut etc and removed from the stores because apparently I wasn’t doing the job how they wanted and in the time frame they wanted it done in. Thing is I’m still working in there from time to time because I know the job better than my replacement which not by choice I had to train.

non from me.

if the job aint right…they wont see me for dust

Depends what you mean by loyalty, nobody in their right mind would put up with having the ■■■■ taken out of them, or abuse, or being taken advantage of, staying at such a place for misplaced loyalty would be silly.

On the other hand, if you work in an environment of mutual respect, the company pay you very well for a fair days work, then only a fool would consider leaving, with genuine loyalty you do your damndest to make sure the job runs smoothly and the customers are happy and the company makes a healthy profit, which in turn keeps you in a secure job for as long as you wish.

Loyalty is a two way street, don’t give any, don’t expect any back.

I have worked for companies where I would… and did, do that extra mile for, and help out whenever needed. In return I would be treated as a grown up with respect, and adequately rewarded, in other words I worked for a “Team company”
Today it has been made abundantly clear that the firm I now work for is a “Them & us” Company, so I only do what I am told to do and have to do, never volunteer and show little extra initiative if the occasion arises, and also you can’t expect a Gold star service for a Second class rate :bulb: …but amazingly they do seem to expect just that, (but even more amazingly succeed with some of the drivers there :open_mouth: )
It aint so much my local depot, but the main head depot (original boss’s son :unamused: ) seems to have an air of contempt towards all drivers illustrated by the numerous memos that we receive,… which invariably end with the words “disciplinary action will be taken” :unamused: (even at Christmas  )
I’ve never met the guy but he comes across as a bit of a ■■■■ so it does not exactly create much loyalty towards his company.
You can only react to the way that you are treated :bulb: ,but I reckon he fails to comprehend this :unamused:

Loyalty…
If it’s a good job I start early, take my time and go home early.

If it’s a crap job (like tomorrow) I’ll start late, take my time and go home early.

I’ll still be thought of just the same.

Just been in to check on my boy (3 in about 2 weeks); He’s curled up in bed asleep, cuddling an old toy dog he found earlier in our spare room which I bought for his mum after we’d only been together a couple of weeks. That was nearly 13 years ago.
Stuff driving lorries, I know where my loyalties lie.

I go in do my job to the best of my ability every day in return my firm pay a half decent wage anything I need is supplied and they leave me to get on.
All the time it stays like this, Il be loyal.

Got £500 voucher from my lot for me to spend on anything…obviously over 500 then I make up the difference, so my shiny 64gig Ipad Air cost me £59. Returned to the company in January '94…£500 might not seem to much for such ‘loyalty’ but better than a kick in the kahoonas…and the salary is pretty good for what I do and in 2-3 weeks, it gets a whole lot easier than my current run

Im loyal to my family, work no chance.it us and them as far as i see it.no company cares about you truely

I witnessed there behaviour towards 90 drivers last year, asking you how you intended to keep your job, drivers who’d gave them 5/6 years of loyal service finished in the blink of a eye, many loyal customers dumped without a thought ,depots closed etc etc.
Any loyalty I had went then,it’s just a job now,I don’t go the extra mile now, don’t think for myself, just be a steering wheel attendant, just live for the last day of the week.

Not something you’d associate with agency driving but the guy gets me as much work as I want so wouldn’t change and do the odd ‘how soon can you get there’ shift, nearly always at the same company where they think of me as ‘one of them’ and I get treated with respect so if there’s a problem I’ll try and sort it out it but always let them know. Other companies I’m just a bum on a seat so I work accordingly.

at Appleton and Trafford park :sunglasses: the two little WELSH WONDERS! who bully drivers day in and day out, :imp: get away with it because they’re SCARED FOR THEIR JOBS! :unamused: :open_mouth: a few of us who’ve been around and done a bit, IE for twenty years plus  know much more than these TRANSPORT MANAGERS! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: when I asked to see THEIR INTERNATIONAL CPC CERTIFICATES FROM OCR! Gulp err don’t know drive I think I’ll get rid of him as he’s a trouble causer! then they still think they’re in the army from 1986! Abject and clueless! :bulb:  :exclamation: loyalty? Them two are STOBRATS mad, till THEY GET THE BULLET! Pair of [zb]s! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Loyalty. Mate of mine worked for a company for 14 years, always accomodated their requests to help them out, rarely went sick, and even put the company before a night out with his family. “They won’t get rid of me, i’m too experienced and it’ll cost them too much.” He said time and again. Then in January just gone, all 30 night drivers were told they were to be made redundant. That’s loyalty for ya. Everyone has been saying to this bloke that loyalty does not exsist, and he needs to wise up. Now he’s been told they may be able to save some night drivers jobs, and guess what?, yep, he believes them because they won’t get rid of him, and he’s still accomodating their last minute requests. Sometimes, you just want these people to actually live in the real world. He works 4 nights a week, 45 hours, and earns £32k a year. He’s looked round and realised he’ll actually have to work for a living if/when he does go, and to be honest, he needs to go, it might wake him up to reality

I remember years ago working for a very well known parcel carrier, and at a team briefing one day, I said to my line manger that we were just a number, and he went ballistic, citing that we were more than that to the company blah blah.

The depot was closed down within 2 years of me leaving.

That’s loyalty for you.

Ken.
