Lowering working time average

Obviously I’m meant to average 48 hours working time over 17/18 weeks. I can use annual leave to lower my average but I can’t use the statutory 28 days leave (which are paid).

So, am I meant to take a day off without pay every so often to lower my average? :open_mouth:

My average working hours for the last 4 weeks has been 47:33, so obviously it isn’t an issue, but in trying to maximise my earnings (hourly pay) my efforts are going to be pointless if in a few months I have to take a day or 2 off (unpaid) to bring the average back down to <48.

Get a job where you spend hours waiting at RDCs and get paid for that time :bulb:

Remember that breaks and POA don’t count as working time so you can use them to reduce the average, also unless things have changed recently (I’ll check later if I remember) only 20 of the statutory leave days count towards the average, the other 8 days can be used to reduce the average.
This is because in the UK we get 5.6 weeks a year holiday whereas the EU regulations only stipulate 4 weeks holiday must be given.

Using breaks and POA there are plenty of people on this board who work 60+ hours a week and still remain within the 48 hour average working time, I’m sure there are also plenty of people who don’t bother about the average one way or the other

I wasn’t taking into account breaks and POA, just driving/other work.

Ah, so the 8 bank holidays count as 0 hours, even though they are paid holiday.

But, in practise a week off at the end of the 17 weeks will bring down the average to 48 if you’re doing a 50 hour week, but at the loss of a weeks wage. Doesn’t make any sense

(Edited to cover up retardedness)
