Low range symbol

hi fellas i have a 2005 daf cf 75 - 360 - the low range symbol on the dash is not working — any ideas erm which plug should i be paying attention to on the gearbox, it has an 8 speed zf splitter box thank you

does the low/high range still work? if it does work then it prob be the bulb in the dash that is fused

Yep. it’ll be a blown bulb.

hey hi - yeah it all works great but just no light - the dash is a sealed unit isnt it - can you change the bulb – do you know which plug on the gearbox controls it please cheers lee

unsure if it is sealed or not but pm mattaid as he is a daf mechanic and should be able too help you

thanks buddy will do

you need to remove the dash panel, the bulbs are pushed in from the rear on the small warning lamps

do you really need the light.

in view of some of the recent threads on here, i would think it would best all round if it was working

Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t.The OP will have to tell us that, but perhaps he’s just irritated that it did work, but now it doesn’t.

I was just thinking ripping the dash out seems a bit of a work up to change a bulb.

if the dash is the same set up as the XF, there are 3 screws in the top section, remove them and it comes away, you can then get behind the clocks to change the bulbs

hardly ripping the dash out, but, that is if it is the same

fairy ■■■■ sounds a simple job then, i thought it sounded like a right work up.

I seem to recall that some of the older XFs have a range change tell tale bulb that works on some strange voltage which is neither 12 nor 24v (maybe 15v?) and that the bulb holders often burn out because someone has put a 12v bulb in.

i think it’s the wattage that burns out the holder. you could pull out the lamp, and it may say 1w, but you can only get hold of a 1.2w lamp. and you think it’ll be rite. but by [zb] it gets hot.

the last time i stripped out a dash though, it had very small fixed LEDs.
i had to cover one up as my ABS light wouldn’t go out.

Hi all - had the dash out the other day - to me it looks to thin to have bulbs I think maybe they are LEDs - of course I can drive with out it - but for me it’s just one of symptoms of OCD - I know it should be working so with all the dash to look at - that bulb or rather where the light should be is all I can see - sad as it is - I wannit workin

check the wires at the gearbox end. with all the water, and crap that gets kicked up it could be a dicky connection.
WD40 would be useful.

the thin bulds are just cappless bulbs they pull out of the plastic push fits they are in & you replace the bulb. they are not led’s. if you have a local fleet factors etc near you simply take the bulb to them n they will give you a packet of about 10 but itl cost u about 12 for them.
