Low cost dvla medicals coming up to 45th birthday

Anyone know any cheap doctors within around 30 miles of Liverpool I had a place to ring for £40 but they not answering their phone anyone have any suggestions

I’ve just booked with these people for next week. (£50)

ryminster.com/driver-medicals/liverpool/

If that’s who you’ve been trying to get hold of, text or email instead. I got 2 emails from them today after waiting a couple of days.

They cover a number of areas in the North West.

Cheers

Ta for that mate. The one I was trying to get hold of was calling something like lowcostmobilemedicals.co.uk

I used doctors on wheels. Fast & cheap £50 weekday £59 Saturday and plenty of locations. HTH

Thanks I will look into it today. Do they do you eye tests or is that at specsavers these days?

Not sure tbh but I had one at Boots for a tenner (full eye health check too) done separately.

Did you consider changing photo to get 5 years free - providing you have not had a licence issued after october 2012

Thanks Rog but I moved house earlier this year and had to send mine back. Just booked with doctors on wheels.

I booked my medical, took the form down to the surgery as the Doc wanted it early (I am away on holiday until the day before the appointment) and then got a call from him saying that I also needed an opticians appointment for the eye test! Apparently the surgery doesn’t do the eye test anymore. Managed to get the opticians appointment the same day as my medical (28th) so all good in the end though. Just got to pass it now!!

Pete.

There’s no such thing as a cheap doctor.
You are not comparing prices of tins of beans. Get yourself a proper medical with a doctor who knows your medical history. Yes it will cost a bit more but you’ve got piece of mind knowing it’s been done properly.

Why is it Drivers seem to begrudge paying for a medical, and look around for Doctors, who have absolutely no record of their medical history, because they are cheap.Even using tactics like renewing before their medical is due, just to extend the medical requirement date.
At top whack a medical is probably £150 every 5 years=£30 per year or 57p a week 8p a day,not exactly break the bank money
Yet when the Boss buys vehicles that are “basic” no gadgets and frills etc but still do the same job as a one with all the gear he is a miserable cheap scate only interested in profit and saving money

Then if that was the first licence issued since october 2012 it should have given you 5 years for LGV from the date of that issue SO … have you checked the expiry date against cat C on it

My medical will be £70 (though in previous years he has waived the charge, no reason why he should have though) and the opticians will be free I’m told as they are just bringing my two yearly eye test a few months early . Of course mine has to be renewed yearly but I don’t think that the price is overly expensive really, especially if your livelyhood relies on it which mine doesn’t?

Pete.

slightly off topic but…

i’m 45 next year, but my renewal date on my licence is for the year after (just before my 46th), do i need to get a medical done for my 45th or when the entitlement runs out??

thanks

I moved house twice since 2012. Just checked liecemce and it does run out soon also had dvla pack through post yesterday.
As for using own doctor I seen them quite a lot the last few months for something so been checked over properly and I’m fine. I’m not going to lay them £100+ when I know I’m well and can get it for £50.
Good thing is my company pay the first £50 towards it

If you can get medical for £50 and the company will pay it then = happy days
