How do you know it’s dozy?
Looks like he went under slow, and at least did not teararse under wrecking his trailer.
Maybe he was being a chancer, knowing it was tight, and watching it by hanging out of his.window, and just nicked it, so he gets out and looks with a view to reversing back, who knows, there does not appear to be a lot of damage.
A useless piece of info btw, that is an ex. W. Martin Oliver of Haltwhistle trailer.

There is a FLASHING warning sign if your over 14`6. Really does amaze me with this bridge!!!
SHOCKING !!!
This is the drivers view before the bridge.
Am I missing something??

I aint trying to justify the driver’s actions mate, merely guessing what took place…being a member of the Trucknet CSI commitee
Depending on where he came from the roads either side of the junction warn of the bridge, but if he came straight at it there is even a sign to direct the non local types on a better route:
I’ll bet the one thing he didn’t look at was his in cab height indicator.(if he’d bothered to set it or, even had one in the cab at all)
I see no reason why he attempted it in the first place.
Because he’s collided with it, it’s classed as a bridge strike regardless of speed or damage. If the authorities turned up, the firm will be getting a large bill.
Here’s the picture …

I regularly fly under two different bridges where I set the lights off.
I did before they put the sensors in so figured it was unlikely the bridge had shrunk. Would be a bit more cautious elsewhere.
If it was marked 4.4m, on the flat, and in the middle of nowhere out in the country somewhere, and I had a 4.5m trailer on I might chance it with the view to lowering the suspension if it didn’t but if this guy had a 4.6m on it was never happening.
Because it was there.
Heh. You can guess how much a bridge gets hit by how much signage its got.
I drive past this one a lot, and yes, it gets hit a lot. Also has flashing overheight signs too.

I’ve just noticed they’ve blurred out the height signs, same on Google too. What use is that?!?!

maybe if he knew his round " prohibitive " signs with red outer the coppers should have him with no lube! warning triangles bad enough, but come on? Whose read an Highway Code since they passed in 1977?
without lying?
The signs are blurred out because of Googles own automatic software. The same that blurred out faces and number plates.
Looks like one of LIFT’s. Probably chancing it.
Am I the only one who doesn’t have a problem with this. He has seen the signs approached it slowly seen it’s tight lowered the suspension on the unit and appears to be walking back to lower the trailer. Job done no damage just looks like a driver using his brain to me. I’ve done the same more than once. Some idiot on social media who doesn’t know his arse from his elbow posting it and thinking how clever he is.

Yeh good point, that’s probably just as it was mate, I’ve done the same also in the past. But if that was printed it would not make sensational news.
