I was pondering earlier about winning the lotto/euro as i’m sure a few of us do,i was imagining a life of not getting up at stupid o clock and a life of luxury, then I thought maybe not,i reckon I would be back at work after a year of doing what I want to do,the reason I say this is I have just had 9 days off and wasted each day sitting on my behind watching crap tv and dvds,so I would probably do the same if I won the big one, there is only so much you can do with money in the bank,go around the world, you would soon get bored with that, same thing with hobbies,i reckon I would volunteer for various causes and use my money to help them,i would never go back to hgvs but would buy a sprinter[my favourite van]and do part time courier work, maybe 2/3 days a week, then the other two voluntary work
I know what I’d do. I’d take a year out, fly around the world then buy a server farm and run Folding at Home. Then go back to work because I was bored.
Get my private pilots licence, buy a private jet and then fly me and those close to me on a round the world adventure.
Though I don’t do it, as I think it’s a tax on fools.
IF I did it & won I’d keep my gob shut, and slink off into the sunset for a year+ and let the dust settle before re-emerging.
I would set up my two sons and daughter. They are having a hard time of it, despite their best efforts. Chuck out my old furniture and buy new stuff. Get a decent car. Keep a decent nest egg so me and the missus can live comfortably for our remaining years. That’s plan A. Plan B is chuck out plan A. Then set up Plan C.
Whilst I agree that the lottery is a tax on the stupid and desperate, I know what I’d do with the money.
I’d buy properties and let them out. Becoming a slum landlord would give me enough work to keep busy whilst bringing in enough money to keep going. Plus, no better investment than bricks and mortar (unless you’re too close to the east coast of course!)
With all that money I would create employment by giving up my job for someone else
id buy a truck and work when i felt like it, then at least spend my time wisely not just in a chair wondering what to buy lol
Depending on how much, I’d give most to family members. The rest, I’d buy an out the way old farm type of place and buy all those classic motorbikes I’ve loved all my life and tinker my life away in a outhouse fixing them up. Oh, I’d fit in some fishing as well.
All well and good having money but quality of an active and healthy life is more important to me.
What would I do with a Euromillions Jackpot? (Let’s call it £50m for the sake of argument)
There is a different threshold for all of us as to “How much would significantly change us” and all that.
For me, I reckon anything less than £1.3m would have no effect on my lifestyle whatsoever. That would mean for instance, that with a £1m win - I’d still be on here every day, getting on people’s ■■■■, bashing the idle rich in politics - but not “joining them” notice. I’d be keeping myself busy…
For amounts £1.3m to say £50m - “What would I do” becomes a lot harder to answer, as a major upheaval would be likely, and there would be winners and losers out of that.
For amounts OVER £50m though - THEN you are talking “Serious Money” and perhaps it’s time to start thinking of really “making one’s mark upon the world”…
Changes in legal sentiment over the years, religious followings (or rather “lack of them” for most people) and of course the open nature of “Social Media Politics” nowadays - Oh yes. There’s a few things I could be doing to “make my mark” alright! In a nutshell, there are far too many daft laws that “keep the poor at the bottom of the stack” and “protect the idle wealth of the rich”. I’d be working to re-dress that balance from a Fair Play platform rather than anything “Leftist” (Or “Right Wing” either, come to that!)
One simple reform I’d push for - would be “Managers everywhere to be paid by the hour, rather than a salary”. You watch “Manager Productivity Improve” once you take away this “pressure for being a minimalist” from them!
Social Engineering then - is what I’d do with a Euromillions Jackpot. My special project? - “The Magic Number of 27”…
Now let’s see if any of you lot out there have a clue as to what I’m talking about when I say “The Magic Number of 27”…
(It’s my social engineering solution to “Poverty”, and I’m gobsmacked no one else has made use of it for centuries, as it’s hardly a “New Concept”!)

substitute most with some and ditto
Give loads to friends and charity.
Buy a nicer but not much bigger house close to where I am now and one in Jersey. I’ve done a lot of stuff over the break, but still so much more I want to do. I’d not be bored, do some studying on stuff that interests me, I’ve not had enough time to go abroad since '91 so I’d do some travelling and see friends overseas and the continue with my hobbies.
Only over £50 mill are you talking serious money,! Wtf you on about as anything more than what I have is serious money …
With a significant win I would take care of my family, but in a way that discouraged them from becoming spoiled by it. For myself I would get into some kind of racing series, maybe classics, maybe something like the Porsche Cup and also follow the MotoGP and WRC circuit. I would use my free time learn new things, like golf, languages, how to play the piano, guitar etc.
If I had any spare time left I would restore old cars and lorries, keeping active would be essential as I have a tendency to get bored, that always leads to trouble and with that amount of money, the trouble would make Keith Moon look like an Altar Boy.
I would involve myself in some charity/trust kind of deals, but worthy ones where the beneficiaries are the ones to benefit rather than the board of directors.
Always said stuff this driving lark if I won enough,BUT as I’m off till 27th jan ( getting married Saturday) I know full well not driving anywhere will drive me bananas lol.
Driving for a living must be the only profession that drives you mad when your at work but can’t sit on your bum when your off or getting up early doesn’t happen ( grrrrrr lol).
Would buy a cottage either in yorkshire miles from nowhere or in the lakes can’t beat peace and quiet look after family aswell (just not this week our wedding stop interfering lol)

I know a woman who as a student decades ago, bought 2 run down houses (in grimethorpe Barnsley) with her student grant, then with a own hands did them up and rented them out, and with the profit bought more. After a few years her "portfolio was nearer 500 houses, and her education lead her to become a housing advisor during the boom years, as she was rather clued up on investment and housing law. She was regularly called by housing trusts, councils, property investors etc to give advice (@£250/hr). All work to her portfolio was done “inhouse” by her building company, estate agency etc. Yet she could still be found onsite with her sleeves rolled up unblocking drains etc.
At the last count her company was worth £50M

This unfortunately is what’s missing from today’s society, get up get your hands dirty and work for what you want, all to much of “I want it for free I’m too tired, lazy stressed etc” to actually think for yourself fair play to her have a plan work for it
Have you guys forgotten the obvious 1st purchase… ?
ffs Don’t forget to buy a brand new top spec blinged up truck.
Then you can park it on the drive outside you house, then when you wake up in the night for a pish you can walk out of the house and pish on the wheels for nostalgia…

Highly unlikely.

when I say “The Magic Number of 27”…
Is it the record number of pairs of quotation marks you can fit in 1 rant?
I’d buy\build a nice house by a lake for the remaining time i have, try to get some of my lesser Health problems sorted privately[Money talks, especially alot].Maybe a Bentley Continental[just because i could]and a Healey 3000 for the summer[my Dream from my youth]and help a few people who have helped me.Then just enjoy the time that is left.
