Ok so iv only gone and lost my taco card DOH!!! I won’t go into detail as I’m rather annoyed about it but iv defo lost it… anyway iv rang work to see if iv left it lying around anywhere and explained that I seemed to have misplaced it somewhere then they proceeded to explain how I can’t drive without it and instead I will be the dogs body for the day tommorrow… I was under the impression that you can drive up to 15 days whilst waiting for a replacement card as long as you done a printout before and after your shift and filled in the relevant sections…
You’re correct. 15 calendar days doing printouts to start and finish. Maybe you’re company has a policy on these things. I know Tesco won’t let agency drivers in without their card. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean they can’t keep you away from the truck. On the bright side, they haven’t told you to stay away unpaid.

Ye I guess so… hopefully my replacement turns up sharpish

I ordered my last card on a Friday lunch time, and it was on the mat on Saturday morning.
Cheers that’s encouraging… I just think it’s strange cus when I done my cpc not long back we went over this topic in great depth and the driver trainer told me if you loose your card you still drive but follow the correct process then I got my manager telling me that they sacked a driver for doing that very thing… Good job I said something and didn’t do the same thing
As said it could be company policy that you can’t drive without a driver smart card, but it wouldn’t hurt to tactfully make sure they’re aware the law says you can drive for 15 days without your card if it’s faulty or lost/stolen.

Ye I’m gonna mention it tommorrow and if that’s the case why it wasn’t mentioned in my induction…

To be fair, I think if you haven’t got your card, your first port of call should/has be your manager.
If someone got sacked for driving without one you can only assume they didn’t…
Berty, it goes without saying you’ve phoned DVLA to order a replacement… I phoned them last year about 4 pm on a Thursday and had the new one, like Orlov Jay, on the Saturday morning (though they tell you to allow up to 2 weeks as per Royal Mail’s instructions).

I can’t ring them until tomorrow as they aren’t open but I hope it comes sharpish as my manager said I’m his yard ■■■■■ until it arrives… I said ok and gingerly hung up
