Lost fuel card!

I’ve made a major zb up today and I’ve managed to loose my fuel card!!!
I filled up this morning and I think I might of left the card in the machine, it wasn’t until I went to refuel this afternoon that I realised I couldn’t find it!! I went back to the dame place I fuelled up in the morning and asked if they had a card handed in but no joy :frowning:
I’ve let my boss know and he was a bit off on the phone about it, which is what I would expect to be honest, apparently they can’t cancel the card until Monday morning.
I’m just a bit worried that I’m gonna loose my Job over it!! I know it may sound stupid to some people but I’ve only been in this job for 2 months and I’ve landed on my feet with it really.
What do u guys think will happen ■■?

Can’t belive there isn’t a number to cancel it out of office hours. As long as you ain’t one of these ■■■■■ that put the pin on the card it’s unlikely anyone will use it. If they do your boss will have to take it up with card company. ■■■■ happens, don’t stress move on. Can’t see you getting the boot

even if your boss reported the loss today it can take up to 48 hours for the card too be stopped

What Scotstrucker says, its written into the contract as a lot of the fuel companies are only agents for Keyfuels etc and your bosses company will be liable for any fuel drawn down until the card is stopped by Keyfuels themselves. Your only grace is that hardly anywhere takes fuel cards without the PIN nowadays, but its only been like that a couple of years though

I just gotta hope that no one draws on it today or Tomo then :frowning:
Its Ruined my weekend now

I use Keyfuels card and I would say 99% of the manned fuel stations I use don’t require the pin. Unmanned Smart sites obviously require the pin.

This is what im worried about and then ending up loosing me job

Not that it’ll do much good but where did you leave it? Maybe someone here has it and not yet handed it in.

Its probably in one of your pockets or somewhere in the truck. The terminal instructs you to remove the card as soon as its read it - before fueling begins.

Then you re-insert it to obtain a receipt. :bulb:

if somebody has it, and uses it then CCTV will show them wont it … does the card have your reg on it? … Just put it down to a mistake these things happen yeah boss is right cheesed off but it is an honest mistake … did you get more fuel lol

You won’t be sacked. Enjoy your Sunday. :sunglasses:

I’ve left my card in the machine at Lymm Truckstop, no idea how, luckily my mate was the next truck to use same machine, spotted the card and gave it me.

He wasn’t behind me in the queue, so not that I was distracted or anything, really no idea how it happened, just 1 of those things in the last minutes of a 15hr shift I guess.

If you get sacked over it mate, then the next job WILL be a better firm to work for, because it’s just 1 of those things, hopefully nobody will use it, but I also know LOTS of places that don’t use the pin and they just ask if that’s the reg on the card, say yes and the fuel is booked out to your vehicle too …

Your company isn’t liable for any fuel drawn from the moment it’s reported… If they are unable to put a stop on the card straight away, that’s the card company’s problem, not your firms.

Don’t worry about it mate, you’re not the first and won’t be the last. Your boss has seen this many times, he’s going to forget about this as soon as the next problem occurs with something or somebody else.

I’d say around 6am tomorrow morning, so not long to go now.

Fraid not as the card company’s have it sewn up nicely. Any fuelcard I’ve ever signed up to says the account holder is liable for any fuel drawn down 24/48 hours after the card has been reported lost, you no likey - and you no sign contract - you no get card.
As a result they will endeavor to stop the card immediately during office hours, but don’t really give a toss otherwise as their losses are always covered by the account holder. It stinks, but so do they and thats how they work

Funny you should mention that…i found a card in a machine, and the pin was written on the back…so thanks a lot, i am now 900 litres richer…wow, i am so excited…sorry if you lose your job, but next time be careful…whoopee…whoopee

I found a card on Saturday if you pm me the pin I’ll tell you if it’s your card.
Seriously why worry it happened it isn’t the first and it won’t be last.

Never lost or forgotten anything chap?

Shouldn’t companies have disciplinary procedures for such things. Sounds like a verbal or written warning would be the most he should get. Theoretically :astonished:
