Lorry hanging off the bridge

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-l … e-65371074
I use this bridge a lot.I always thought you could stay on the limiter because it seems only a slight bend

Bet that woke him up sharpish. Well strapped load though

Bugger

You can, wonder why he didn’t make the turn, driver error or some sort of mechanical or tyre failure.
Lucky he didn’t veer off a few hundred yards before or a long drop likely.

Black ice on bridge unlikely as min temp +6deg. Could have been diesel on road, or just plain failing to stay awake!

Night-and-day:
Bet that woke him up sharpish.

I hope this acts as a wake up call to those who seem to take all slip roads on the limiter.Im always getting oveetook m1 to m25 or m25 to m11 south.its a 30mph advisory but some trucks come flying past me there, and Im thinking, how they dont overturn

How do we…

Know it wasn’t crap reversing?

It’s the main carriageway he crashed off, it’s as good as straight

Just looked at J19 M1…

On Google maps, the whole area is a sea of red lines.

Yes, I’m supposed to go that way today…best not

Think he was nicely travelling down the M1 and he was thinking do I go left and join the A14 or carry straight on, what’s my Sat nav saying? oh go left, bugger too late now where’s my loo roll

As above, it wasn’t the slip road from A14 to M1 north. It’s actually M1 south so he’s managed to do that in a straight line. Too early to speculate but he may well have had “help” from a late lane changer. Let’s not hang the driver just yet.

Looking at the picture of that lorry begs me to ask …

Is that what is known as a TILT

Could be that, could be a medical episode, could be anything.

The firm involved I always see flat to the mat which could suggest other things too.

But again, speculation and that…

If, and it is a big if,drivers get accustomed to taking these sorts of turns on the limited with no margin of safety, then the smallest mistake, error or other thing means the poop will hit the fan.
I wonderbhow many owner drivers push their own vehicles like employee drivers - that could be a great survey question

He wasn’t travelling down the M6 round the bend onto the M1, He was travelling in a straight line south bound on the M1 junction 20-19. Driver walked away unharmed so it wasn’t a Medical problem.

I know what you meant mate, but as mentioned many times he was not on a slip road, he was on the M1 south which at that part is as straight as a snooker cue.
