Driver dies after three-lorry crash which shuts the A40 at St Clears, Carmarthenshire A lorry driver has died after a crash which closed the A40 in both directions at St Clears, Carmarthenshire.
Mid and West Wales Fire Service said one driver had been “severely trapped” after Friday morning’s crash involving three lorries at Pengawse Hill.
Hydraulic cutting equipment was used to free him and he was taken to hospital with the two others.
The road was closed between St Clears roundabout and Penblewin roundabout and will remain shut for several hours.
Traffic has been affected between St Clears and Haverfordwest and a diversion has been set up via the A477 to Kilgetty and A478 through Narberth to the Penblewin roundabout.
Fire crews from Narberth and Whitland are helping with the clean-up operation.
