lorry ban road

So on my route I’m being shown, there is a lorry ban over 7.5t between the hours of 11-7. The fella who I’m taking over from said he’s gone down there every night for 4 years. On the off chance of someone catching you, what’s the worst fine you can get?

In London? Wort case court appearance if no valid reason to use road. Not sure on fine

You sure it’s not just a waiting/loading ban??

Tell us the road name and place we might even be able to help :stuck_out_tongue:

If it is out in the sticks, go for it, nobody around to record number plates at night.
If it is a lorry watch, residents pass on the vehicle details to Trading Standards, who then get the keepers address from the Dvla.
Then normally it is a £ 1000 fine
But at night, no problem.

No its in shropshire. It just has your usual 7.5t limit sign and a underneath it says 11pm-7am. That’s all I can see on the sign, doesn’t say anything about unloading.

Thats to stop HGV’s rumbling through at all hours. They normally have them on housing areas next to industrial estates.

Is it near Whitchurch Road Shrewsbury?

Is it just off the a49?
The sign is what it is,if you choose to ignore it expect more than just a slap on the wrist if your pulled over by a grumpy copper.

There’s several around Shrewsbury , why on earth would you go thru it ? The unrestricted way round won’t be more than a few miles . You may get away with a warning the first time from trading standards / council , not worth it tho really is it ?

Yeah I agree with you, however there are shops around the area and on the ind estates that need the deliveries. So it is for access. Just it says nothing on the signs…ah well.

If the 7.5t weight restriction sign doesn’t say except for access you cannot legally go through it between 11-7, it’s that simple.

Of course you could do what your mate has done and ignore the sign, but if you do ignore it you may have to accept the consequences if you get reported.

The weight restriction is there for a reason so personally I wouldn’t go through it but I suppose it’s up-to you.
