As i was once told the Arr stood for Aberdeen rate reducers.
I hate Gregorys, they wouldn’t let me use their showers at their Wheddon Cross depot …bad enough been looked down the snout at by others, but by a haulage firm?
You can tell I aint one to carry grudges eh?.

Gregory’s was a wonderful, friendly West Country firm right up to the moment that Old Man Gregory died and the next generation took over. They have none of the Old Man’s “old school” ethos and are simply focused on profit. They found lame excuses to get rid of all the long-serving and highly respected traffic office staff and replace them with brown-nosing company yes-men. If they couldn’t see a profit in letting you have a shower, then you wouldn’t get a shower.

Craib’s recently bought out RA Howie, so another change of employer for all the Howie drivers.

And TJ McCaul
Craibs interest me because of balanced trunking which supposed to be the cheapest way to move goods quickly over long distances.ie Great Yarmouth to Aberdeen.
5.00pm North Manchester a Craibs driver attach’s a trailer to his unit and drives to ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ he swaps trailers with a driver who has come from Aberdeen.
He then returns to N.Manchester where he swaps trailers with the driver from Great Yarmouth? whose trailer he had taken to Scotland who has had his night off and he will deliver that load.
The benefits of this is no empty running but you need the loads and the men to do the job
Years ago Smiths of Maddison used to run trailers from Scotland to Garstang (Guy Big J’s)
The shunter from Mcr could do 3 or4 ? to Garstang.

Those McCaul V8’s will be causing sleepless nights for Craib’s hierarchy. Letting drivers loose with that kind of power and a fitted fridge!
