Hi All,
I passed my class 1 in May 2013 some 21 years after gaining my class 2 in the army. At the moment I’m fully employed in a salaried position installing satellite tv. This kind of work I’ve been doing on and off since leaving the army 12’years ago. I haven’t enjoyed this job for a while now and made the decision to change career about 3 years ago. It took me that long to save enough for my class 1 and since passing I’ve managed to get 14 hours cpc under my belt. The plan I have for the other 21 is to get them with an ADR licence about April time. I haven’t yet gone full on looking for a job as I’m relocating from South Dorset to south East Somerset/Wiltshire border in June.
I’m posting this as I have 2 questions really
Firstly does anyone know of any firms hiring in the area I’ve mentioned.? I’m willing to commute but I’m really looking for mon-fir tramping.

Secondly I’m going to start visiting companies in that area in a couple of weeks when I next have some time off in the week.
What would anyone suggest on dress code for this ? Suited and booted with a pair of steeleys, high viz, hard hat in the boot. Or something a little less formal?
Ah three questions actually, I’m planning on carrying copies of my CV ,some vista print specials and photo copies of my driving licence and paper part. Is this a good idea or would it be dodgy to leave a copy of my licence with people I don’t know etc , would just showing my licence be enough?

Hi mate, might not be of any interest to you but Gregory Distribution are having an open day/recruitment day on the 25th of January
at our Cullompton depot have a look on the web site and see what you think www.gdl.uk.com they are a in my opinion a good firm to work for, new motors, decent money and they leave you alone to get on with it, might be worth a look

Thanks for the reply, that sounds interesting but a couple of questions. Are they recruiting for just the cullompton depot? Or is it recruiting for other locations like Shelton mallet .
If it’s just for cullompton is it tramping?

Just had a look at the link given by mfm and they have all the locations listed. There is one in Shepton Mallet at Evercreech junction. Take a look and see if you can spot something.

Not just Cullompton mate other depots aswell,as far as I know they are offering days, nights and tramping they also have night trampers it cant hurt to go to the open day or just give them a ring ,they do give new and inexperienced drivers a fair chance.
