Hello people, As above regaing looking for work(This is not the usual I cannot find a job thread).
I have been talking to a few friends and they are all saying to me that I need to start looking and enquiring about class C+E jobs now.
I have not got my C+E yet as I am not due to start my training for a few weeks.
I intend to pass I really do but if the worst should happen and I have a job lined up I am scared that I will burnt any bridges with a company that is willing to take on a new starter.
Does anyone know the right thing to do?
Im thinking of holding back till I have the certificate in my hand then I can go hunting for a job and get out of Tesco home shopping work.
Being keen is good, but is any employer going to take kindly to anyone asking for a job they are not (yet) qualified for?
Keep your ear to the ground, by all means, but dont dont go upsetting anyone yet. Be like the rest of us: get a good job, THEN upset `em.
Back when I was about to do my weeks class 2 training way before cpc days I sent a letter to a company and they were very keen to hear from me when I passed as I showed I was keen and enthusiastic. So no reason the same can’t happen for you.
Like steve-o says show interest, explain the situation, ask if, as and when, you pass, would they consider you. At least you have opened the first door which is the frightening bit. Good luck and don’t burn your bridges at Tosco’s 'cos you might not like it once you have given it a try.

This is exactly the route my son is taking as he goes through getting his Cat C. He has found a couple of companies locally willing to take him on as a new driver, both are pallet networks so it’ll be daytime multidrop. He works 4 on 4 off in his current non driving job and is working doing his training around that taking the odd day off when needed. He’s not handed in his notice there and they’re apparently aware he is doing it.

Thanks thats the way I am feeling as I dont want to annoy anyone while I have not got the qualifications to drive the vehicles.
Thanks again Thomas

Thanks again Thomas

Thanks sounds like your son has fallen on his feet good on him.
My work gave me the time off so I can do my class C+E, they seem to think that even though I pass then I wont use it but stay with them.
I keep telling them that once I have passed I will be looking for alternative employment.
Thanks again Thomas
Never does any harm to put feelers out, if nothing else you’ll have ticked off the ones who don’t want to know a new pass.
You can’t beat knocking on doors, especially if you get to see the man, the man gets to see how his/her prospective employee comes across when visiting his/her clients.
This works the same whether you’ve been driving 4 days or 40 years.

Thankyou, I will think about putting feelers out there.
I did so when I completed my class C but after walking around not one place contacted me( which is fine as I really only want class C+E).
I have my training in 2 weeks time so hopefully will get something not long after that.
Thanks again Thomas
