Hi, I passed my hgv class 2, 4 years ago when I turned 18 but no1 would insure me so now I’m 23 I have got set on with an agency to gain some experience. But with such a long time of not driving I’ve forgotten sum of my cpc studies :/. The main thing I’m wanting to know is sort of a list of things I’m needed to carry with me to avoid vosa fineing me. I always carry my driving licence, digi tacho card and my cpc card. But I was told other day I should always carry 2 spare digi tacho rolls or can get fined £30 so I’m looking to get an all time kit bag with everything I need in it. Thanks guys this is much appreciated
If I am right on this you only need to carry one spare tacho role, however if you had to replace the one in the machine and were stopped they would asked where your spare role is. So best practice is carry two but sure law states only one.
your required to carry enough roll / paper for a roadside print out .
I still have to see in writing from VOSA or what ever they are called to the amount of extra rolls people say you need .

Whoever told you that was talking rubbish, you’re required to carry enough printing paper to do any printouts required for a roadside check, DVSA are unlikely to ask for printouts because they have equipment to download your card to a laptop.
My understanding is that if they do ask for printouts it will only be for work periods since, and including, the shift before your last weekly rest period, so seven shifts at most for most people.
The company you drive for have a legal obligation to provide you with printing paper, so there’s no need to buy any unless you want printouts for your own records.

Technically they could insist you do a 28 day printout but that would be really pedantic.
Thanks guys, the story was apparently vosa stopped a guy and the roll in the tacho run out so the guy put his spare in and then vosa fined him for not having a spare roll at that point even though he was on a brand new roll he put in whilst they was present. Wether a horror story or a just made up to masked vosa look bad I’m not sure that’s y I thought I would check
So is there anything else I shud carry with me I always have my 28 days worth of tacho reports. And another driver told me he had been stopped and they asked to see his torch and hammer. Seems odd in summer I can understand a torch in winter for ur daily checks but y would u need a hammer?

It was bullcrap you can’t get fined for not having a spare roll of printing paper, you need enough paper to do any required printouts so it’s a good idea to have a spare roll in the cab.
There’s no legal obligation to carry a torch, though obviously it is a good idea and personally I wouldn’t be without one, a hammer is one of the preferred tools for killing prostitutes but there’s no legal requirement to carry one
The only thing you Legally need to carry is your DCPC card (if issued) and your driving licence - although due to the way the law works you can get away without having your driving licence.
